I'm running late, as usual for Christmas. The train I received this late summer, was finally taken out of the boxes tonight. I did look at them upon receiving, but apparently not that close. I ordered the MTH 20th Century Limited Dreyfus Hudson set. The observation car's back signage "Drum Head" states "The Commodore Vanderbilt"! I haven't checked out the box yet, but I think it was odd that the 4 cars from the set came in 2 boxes. I did order the add-on. On top of this issue, none of the cars were labeled "Pullman", which I thought was sloppy on MTH's part for a 1938 blue stripe set, or even the 1940 silver/grey stripe set. I just found the #'s!
4-6-4 Dreyfuss and tender- 20-3525-1E
Add-on Sleep & Diner 20-66236
2 coach set 20-3525b
issue piece.., here may be the problem... coach/coach is printed on the box, but an over lay sticker states RPO/Observation 20-3525a
Nothing on any of these 4 boxes state NYC 20th Century Limited.
Sorry, but I'm venting without doing much homework. I've purchased 2 hard cover books, and I have a couple 20th Century Limited posters/artwork displayed. At least a couple of you folks understand my gut rot pain! I will be calling the dealer on Tuesday...when he opens to see if this can resolved by Friday....yes I know that is not going to happen!
