MTH AIU and Lionel 022 switches

Wiring a new layout for Christmas soon. I expect that the 4 amp relay rating of the MTH AIU is plenty capable of handling the current draw of the switch motor of Lionel 022 switches, but for any of you using the AIU and 022 switches over time have you experienced any AIU relay failures? I have and could use relay boards to minimize current through the AIU relays, but I don’t want to do the extra wiring of a relay board for a layout that I setup/wire/take down each year for Christmas unless it is necessary.
