Does anyone diagnose and repair MTH PS2 boards? I have a 3V that won't control the motor. When advancing to 1 mph, it runs away without chuff or puff. I replaced the optical reader and did not solve the problem.
Thanks,
Rich M

Rich,
You really need a PS2 test fixture to determine if the board is the problem or not. Any MTH trained tech will have a fixture and can determine if the problem is the board or something else.
E-mail the forum member GGG. He is an authorized tech and I highly recommend him.
Rick
Chances are that the top board is the culprit.
Thanks for your suggestions. I hooked up with your contact. Just what i needed.
Thanks again,

I'm curious. Were the lights flashing when it ran away? That happened to me on 2 locos the same day. In another thread, Barry suggested a loco feature reset, which worked. Never did find the cause, only the cure.
No, he had the bad tach reader. Interesting, every run away engine I have seen has usually had a hardware or wiring issue. Faulty harness, bad tach reader, or the speed control opamp failed. G
Well, I finally got the engine up and running. Now I have to download the new sound file and install for the first time.
My next project is to instal a DCS upgrade system in a 1995 Lionel C&O Yellowbelly Hudson engine. It now has a pullmor motor. I need to get a can motor to fit it. Frank at Timko says he has a motor that will do the trick.
Thanks to all for getting me through my first install.
Yes, Frank's motor does the trick, & is reaosnably priced. I upgraded a 1950 #736 Berkshire, as I described in a thread a few months ago.

Do you have a link for Frank...I'd like to replace my pulmor with a can motor as well.
Frank's website is:

You are better off to call him at 1-937-429-1461 to discuss your requirements and engine type. Cost for a can motor with mounting adapter and dog bone interface is around $45.00
Hmm. He used to answer emails. I sent him an email 3 days ago and never heard back from him.
