The catalog is now available to the public. What will you order?

For me, I might go for a Amtrak ES44, mainly because the charging lights. I know its not realistic but that thing looks sweet.

Also lets keep the complaining about "No new toolings" to a minimum here. The point has been made.

If you click on the ES44, the pricing is really really good. $5.60.

The Youngstown Sheet and Tube S-2 makes the top of the list, some nice new rolling stock options as well, and the Mil Rd Bi-Polars being back for the first time in more than 15 years is great too.

Something to really think on -- while there isn't new tooling, things like the Mil Rd bi-polars haven't been offered since the 5v PS2.0 days, that is a long, long time for many in the hobby, my middle school age kids were not even born when those came out originally, heck Max who started this thread was most likely a toddler. So while I am sure there will be unhappiness from those with shirts older than 2003, for many the past two catalogs have had a lot of "new" to them offerings.

Finally a Reading & Northern MP15 switching engine , plus R&N gondolas and  PS-2CD high side hoppers.  Still hoping for R&N GP39s some day.

I would like to get the Indiana RR SD80 and put the patch kit on the cab to change it as to how it ran on NS (#7337) till earlier this year but a 20 1/2" long engine just won't look or operate good on my small layout.

The Reading and Northern MP15 totally slipped by me, I will be getting one for sure.

@Former Member Your wish for UP 7400 came true. Also @Rocky Mountaineer they finally made coaches for the RM GP40's.

@CincinnatiWestern You hit the nail right on the head.

They cataloged the RM coaches.  Made is yet to be seen, but I suspect they'll get produced.  At least for David's sake I hope they are made.  I think they'll look great on his layout.

The PS-2CD High-sided covered hoppers are what I have been waiting to get.

Louis-Dreyfus and ILLINOIS GRAIN are my main choices.

I will definitely order the Ann Arbor, Boston & Maine, and Detroit, Toledo & Ironton 50' Box Cars in the Premier line.

I like the Armstrong and Chandler 55' All-door box cars.

The Corrugated Auto Carriers for Santa Fe, Norfolk & Western, DT&I, and Guilford Boston & Maine on TRAILER TRAIN flat cars are all schemes that I have wanted to get sometime for my 1970's to 1990's era trains.

The Soo Line flat car with bulkheads is the car that I need to put in my Soo Line trains.

The 3-bay center flow covered hoppers in the W.R. Grace and Goodyear schemes are interesting, but the real ones were the ACF Center Flow 5250 Cu. Ft., 4-bay covered hoppers.

I love the L5 on the front. I actually just bought last Christmas a Proto 2 version. Great engine. I really love the premier camelbacks but I don't have that kinda money. I've got a Virginian 44 tonner on order from the last catalog. Nice to see all the railking stuff too. My dad and I have always been semi scale guys and I love the railking stuff. See y'all at York!

I agree. I think that they are way overpriced for what they are...

My name is Alfred.  I am a toy train acquisition addict.  I have not made a purchase for eight months, three weeks and two days.  Not placing an order from the Lionel 2018 Volume 2 catalog was Step 1.   Not placing an order from the MTH 2019 Volume 1 catalog will be Step 2.

Grant me the integrity to accept back-ordered trains;
courage not to order any more;
and wisdom not to succumb to the allure of new catalogs.

What, me worry?

p.s. Didn't miss any MoPac locomotives or rolling stock, did I?

Oh man. My first train was an ALCO and I've always loved them. I'd love a RS-11.

I have an RSD-12 from Weaver that I’m either going to sell or get upgraded... I haven’t decided it’s fate yet since I love it dearly.  I currently own 4 ALCO locomotives in NKP livery... as well as the rest of my collection lol!

Like the Center Beam flat cars w/lumber loads, but I wish they'd bring back the "opera window" versions. Going to look through it at length at the club tonight.

I'm excited for this version. I have opera windows with log loads and much prefer the diagonal bracing and lumber loads. More modern IMO. I'm getting the TTX, BNSF, and maybe one of the other two.

Bummer! I can't get a close up of those GE passenger cars! I would like to see the names being imprinted on them.

Just a guess, based on the low-res (even zoomed in) image - GENERAL ELECTRIC, with the GE logo between the words.

As to what I'd like from the catalog - perhaps the NS red-nosed Dash 9.

Yes I vaguely see that on the top board above the windows. The cars did have names and a low board below the windows. I need to see those names to verify that they are prototypically named. I hope that MTH makes the window configuration all coach cars as I Google searched and someone has stated the consist was all coach cars and a baggage car bringing up the rear.

Beautiful stuff.

I had a moment of H & F (Hope and Fear) when I spotted the Mohawks. I have 2 MTH Mohawks (different classes) that I bought in spite of not being a DCS user, in any meaningful way. They were just too impressive to pass up. And Lionel has not Mohawked past the L3a.

I had hopes that the L-4a with the Scullin drivers (below) would be there. So modern-looking.

I would have ordered it, I do believe. Most later Mohawks had Boxpok drivers, but some were built with Scullins.

So, it seems, no order.

Of course the GS-4s, Big Boys, and Pacifics are back. When I saw them, I was starting to wonder if MTH is trying to get customers to buy those recataloged items since they have them in stock. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that, but it feels like they're going to be offering them forever. Anyways, here's my wishlist for 2019 V1:

  • NS 8520
  • Conrail SD80MAC (or 2014 run)
  • Lehigh Valley RS-11
  • Santa Fe FT (maybe)
  • NYC GP40
  • Rocky Mountaineer (maybe)
  • NYC GP7
  • CSX ES44AC
  • MILW Olympian Hiawatha Bi-Polar
  • NS 60' Flat Car with Tank Containers
  • RBMN Hopper
  • Herzog 4-Bay Hopper
  • NS & TTX Centerbeam Flat Cars
  • MILW Streamlined Baggage/Coach Set (or earlier runs)
  • MILW Streamlined RPO (or earlier runs)

"it feels like they're going to be offering them forever."

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Ordering nothing. Already got a lot of stuff, running out of room.

I'm in the same boat. Maybe some of the center beam lumber flats, but that's about it.

Well, there's your problem right there! Your layouts are in boats. We need to talk.
