Same song second verse... My only interest would be the 19th century engines and passenger cars.
They got me with the Missouri Pacific Canary GP38-2. Doesn't say though if there will be any non-powered units available.
This catalog is better for me than many recent MTH catalogs.
I'm digging the P&LE GP38-2s, and good work by MTH to match the road #s with the correct paint jobs for those two engines- P&LE's four ex-RI GP38-2s had three slightly different paint schemes. MTH is modeling the two that wore the same scheme.
I also like the CR 7776 unofficial bicentennial GP38, but I'd prefer some standard blue painted CR GP38s.
And the AVR GP10 is pretty cool as well. Maybe we'll see some AVR SD40-3s (SD45) some time in the future!
The only thing that caught my eye is the Mass transit bud car. I would rather see it with the wide purple with yellow stripes in the middle instead of the top. I just think it looks better IMO.
I'm a Railking guy so i'm likin' the new catalog. I like the P&LE gp and the Wolfs Head tank car is pretty neat, gonna have to pick that one up. I am disappointed that there is no Pennsy Imperial K4s, just a USRA 4-6-2.
Another lack luster catalog.
Looks like they have run out of new ideas.
All but one, never done…
No NYC GP38’s
No SCL A/B F’s
No R-15 subways, SIRT or PATH cars
No LIRR MP-15’s blue/wh.
No EL GP-35’s
No 20- transfer cabooses
No 20- combo door box cars
I only found 2 items I would like to have…

The Aero Train, Union Pacific City of Las Vegas will be at the top of my list. I think the catalog is the best I have seen in the last couple years from both MTH and Lionel. Its a winner for me.
Pass.
I like the inclusion of regional lines. I'm tempted by the Providence and Worchester RS3. But I will definitely get the caboose for it.
Buying the NS Executive ABBA along with the cars..and probably more
I will have to get the FEC ES44AC. My only problem is which one. Railking or Premier??? Can't buy both. I'll make up my mind eventually.

Depends on budget and size of layout. If you have the space and money, I would go for the Premier as that version has more detail and is scale size. Of course, just my 0.02. Good luck with your decision!
For all those who always wanted the NS OCS Executive train F7 they finally have re released it. But i noticed the passenger cars are not the same color as the previous one as i have those. Maybe the catalog doesnt paint the right color. But i will still get this set and all passenger cars as well. Probably get the ge es44ac. Looks great. Its got to hurt for those who paid premium for the dap version. I at least paid market value on mines. But these will be ps3.
Did MTH elminate the tether on the between the F7's? Both powered A's are the same price and it says that DCS and DCC decoders installed.
This would be a major even for MTH, after 20 years of Master/Slave on the A-units.
I hope so. Maybe wireless drawbar??
Had the black Premier Erie Triplex included whistle steam like the BB it would have found a home on my layout. Too bad, they lost another sale.

For fans of the Norfolk Southern Heritage diesels, the NS SD70Ace road number 1030 is featured (20-20515-1). A few folks asked for this engine here on the Forum and it looks like MTH may have delivered. Considered unofficially by some as the missing Heritage, this diesel rode the turntable in the official NS portrait shot. 1030 represented the 30 years of Norfolk Southern and had "1982" and "2012" number boards. Since the number boards are such a simple addition, hopefully MTH will make it so here.
Thanks for listening MTH!
p.s. In 2016, please redo the Savannah & Atlanta Heritage with the correct strip width and dulux gold lettering.
Cheers

Any Union Pacific fan who runs steam freight this is an opportunity to get one if the best caboose offerings for the money. The CA-1 woodside caboose is a great addition for any Big Boy, 2-8-8-2, or 4-12-2. Proper color scheme this time too.
In my opinion, for the price, the MTH CA-1 or the Lionel CA-3 in this scheme are winners!
UP runners, don't miss your chance.
And as Hot Water would say:
"Depends on what era you are modeling."
Here's photos of mine from the photo album forum if you have doubts:
Depends on what era you are modeling.
A few surprises in the catalog in the form of the AVR Premier Geep, and PaTrain RDC. Both are definite likes, in my book. The A5s and FEC GEVO also caught my interest. What was disappointing was the fact that just about everything else in the catalog was a reissue of something previously done in PS2 (i.e. Aerotrain, Daylight, etc.) MTH did dress up some of the perennials with new never-seen paint, such as the FEC and UP "5,000 GEVO," Rock Island Heritage, and CSX SafetyTrain/City of West Springfield ES44AC/C4s. Disappointments: A lack of whistle steam outside the Big Boy, no new tooling such as new Railking steamers, Viewliners, or ACS-64s, and no small locomotives. The GE 44-tonner may be a one-off.
The local "Heritage" caboose is a nice add. Here's the MTH standard photo and the real 555006 in Roanoke (credit to NWHS railcam).
Also 555085 is shown for a closer look. Now don't go counting windows...

Same old, same old, same engines new road names, how many times will we keep seeing the N&W J or the Penn T engines. What happened to the Subway cars?.
Not one of Mikes best catalogs IMO!
NKP passenger cars. Happy to see them make these again
The Premier 50' High-Cube in the TTX scheme has the Yellow in a shade way too dark to match the Bright Yellow used by TTX.

But more importantly, they did NOT deliver on the NS Heritage loco honoring Veterans. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... neither MTH nor Lionel would be able to produce enough of those jewels. So why we haven't seen it yet from either importer disappoints me to no end.

Having finally read through the whole thing I have to say I am now tempted by the Premier Smooth Side UP TTG passenger set.
I don't know, it could just be me or simple coincidence but, It seems to me like maybe the manufacturers are listening in some ways after all.....
I've been tooting for a long time about scale cars in UP TTG that could be run on a smaller layout:
https://ogrforum.com/t...11#29727803692946111
Then along comes GGD with the release of their Harriman passenger sets:
https://ogrforum.com/t...00#40989966530769200
So I reserved a set + 2 add-on coaches. I figured I had better put my money where my mouth was or else shut up about it and forever hold my peace.
Then, not too long after that, there was an ongoing discussion about sets for the new Lionel 21” cars like the ESE set and I mentioned that I would like to see a smooth side set in UP TTG and call it the “Overland”…..
https://ogrforum.com/t...20#40426816727621320
Well I wonder if Mike must have been listening to the forum then because MTH beat them to it with their 19" cars and here is a set!:
http://www.mthtrains.com/sites.../2015_v_2/index.html
I know they're generic and not exactly true to the as delivered UP/SP/Pullman cars for the “Overland Route” but I just love that look! So…I guess I better call up my LHS for a 5-set plus an RPO and again put my money where my mouth is or else shut up about it and forever hold my peace.
So Mike if you really were listening, great response to market feedback!…Thank you. You’ve earned a sale from me.
(Edit 4/23/15): Called Jerry at Hobbyland today and gave him my request to order the 5-car set and the RPO! This will be my first passenger purchase from MTH with Overhead Interior Constant Voltage LED Lighting.
And just in case your still listening……..
How about taking another crack at 20-3423-1:
If it's done right it could look this good:
or maybe a re-release of:
20-90245 & 20-90246 that I can run with the MTH UP 3-Truck Shay 20-3493-1
Thanks again MTH!
Loving this catalog!
Dave
I finally will get the last two passenger cars for the NS F7 set. I needed the Alabama and Pennsylvania cars to complete the original DAP set ...
Curious question for those in-the-know... Are the Norfolk Southern passenger cars in this catalog a complete re-issue of the earlier OCS cars?
I only ask because laz1957 is looking for Alabama and Pennsy cars, but the two 2-packs listed in this latest catalog appear to have cars named Michigan / West Virginia and Ohio / Kentucky.
The full-dome is named Delaware, and I can't decipher the car names in the 5-pack except for the "Sandy Creek" observation.
There are 10 cars listed in the catalog, but are there more than that in real life? If so, then perhaps some of the other cars that may have been part of the DAP OCS may still hold their value in the wild wild West of eBay.
David
A+ catalog to my eyes! One of the best things is no ABA tethers!!
Thinking about a companion for my Erie Triplex.
Would have got the N&W class A and the 611 J if I didn't get the Lionel versions recently, but I'm in for the respective auxiliary tenders.
I'm doing back flips for the Strasburg wood sided passenger cars! The matching 4-4-0, not quite sure.
NS ES44AC & SD70ACe need to be on my roster, along with the CSX Safety train and a couple of the 4 compartment tank cars.
But the big story for me is the NS Executive F7 ABBA and passenger car set!!! I passed on thethe original DAP set because at the time I had a big order list, and figured I'd never see the real one anywhere around here. Well of course, I've seen and photographed it numerous times since. I saw the DAP set selling for $4300, so this new release makes me happiest of all. (along with the Strasburg cars)
I'm also loving the Santa Few freight F7 set too.
And thats just the 'A' list.
My disappointments include no Amtrak View liners or ACS-64 locomotive.. But I am a patient man.
... I spoke to Mike Wolf and I asked him if he would re-run the NS OCS diesel engine set again and he told me no because that would decrease the value of the set. ...
When all is said and done, money talks. The demand for these -- especially in an operator-oriented culture of today -- will likely FAR surpass the need to "protect" the value of the DAP set. And the technology treadmill moves forward as well. The loco's will be PS3 and the passenger cars will have LED lighting.
This announcement should temper the price of any OCS sets at York this week. Excellent timing (at least if you're a buyer)!

True enough. Having asked at both 2014 York meets for the Veterans and Go Rail specials and the "Heritage" 1030, I'm happy to get at least one of the three. I certainly still want Veterans and Go Rail, but they are SD-60Es. When that tooling and model's turn comes up for production, I am confident the two specials are considerations for production.
I'm asking again today at York.
Best,
Bryan

The absolute best thing to come out of this catalog is the option to finally have both A units of the F-7's powered with sound.. That option alone will be enough to deflate value of the DAP set back to its original street selling price within months.
The worst thing is cost. A-B-A sets went from $749.00 to over 1K with only the addition of sound in the second unit..

How about taking another crack at 20-3423-1:
I'll buy another CA-1 to put on the end of it.
Add me to the list of those who want UP 7000s! I'll take 2: TTG and Black, please!
I would even buy DCS for these. Oh, please add whistle smoke also.
MTH keeps producing the nice CA-1 caboose and I just can't say no!
the gevo hybrid cab 2015 and next fuel diesels caught my eye along with the gevo hybrid flatcar in the RK line. I wonder if an uncataloged LNG tender will come out to accompany the next fuel diesels.
I wish someone would come out with these cars along with a DD35B. Nice catalog compared to over the past couple of years.

Yes they did. Both A's have full DCS and can be addressed and run independently. The As have a switch so that you can select if you want it to start up in forward or reverse for conventional operation. There are a lot of people that don't run the Bs so now you don't need to buy one. I expect their other ABA sets like the Es and PAs will be next to be redone this way.
Having the Premier diesels have a different model number for each road number will also be helpful in ordering and fulfillment.
LED lighting in the passenger cars is also a nice upgrade. I need those at our place as we trip 10amps frequently.
Regarding the the lack of additional 44 tonners, MTH wants to build and deliver the first batch before they announce additional road names. Stay tuned - there are a lot of road names they can do.
The Nickel Plate Madison's are a very welcome add with all of the Berkshires out there. We got several preorders for them already. With the custom run NKP RPOs Stockyard Express just ran, we can have quite a mail consist !

Thx Mr. Muffin...you may have just convinced me to pick up a set of MTH E6 or E8....Is there a stock number to identify these changes or just a PS3 will have them updates?

So a lash up will have to be done for the two powered A units?
Still nothing in L&N RR, not even a coal car. It's been 6 1/2 years since they've had anything L&N in their catalog, but who's counting.
