Arnold,
The first thing to try is a Feature Reset: Menu/Advanced/Reset Engine/Feature Reset, select the engine from the list and press the thumbwheel twice.
This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
Thank you so much for replying mr.Broskowitz I did what you said and now the smoke unite is working but no sound and train won't move.when I do factory reset it removes the engine and I reinstall it but no sound and won't move
Arnold,
First, does the engine operate conventionally, i.e., without DCS?
Second, replace the engine's battery with a fresh, rechargeable battery. If you don't have one handy, then charge the engine's battery for several hours on a track with 12-18 volts.
Next, do a conventional reset:
- Place the engine on a conventional (no DCS signal) track and give it power. It should start up
- From a transformer, press the horn/whistle button once and the Bell button 5 times. Use 1/2 second presses with 1/2 second pauses in-between.
- If this works, you should hear a double horn toot. If there's a different problem with the sound system, you should at least be able to start the engine under DCS and get it to move.
Let us know what happens.

Hi Barry : I did everything you said and still no sound. In dcs everything seems to work even the lights flash when I push the horn button just no sound at all. I can't find any wires not connected the volume is up.
