I don't know if there is or is not a limit, however, if there is it's most likely in the double-digit range.
Can each phone be used as a separate remote?
Yes, each smart phone or tablet is a separate remote control.
Steve Eastman and I have used at least 4 different devices including phones at the same time with no issues so far. Each device will need to load the engines seen just like the standard remote.
