Ok I know the big boy talk has been everywhere lately but I'm wondering are there similarities between Lionel's BB and MTHs Imperial BB?

Seeing everyone with the new ones has got me wanting to get one but sadly I run DCS lol.

I can only run the imperial due to my curve size but was wondering if they are similar sound wise. Maybe it was just me but the whistle on Lionel's sounds a lot better than the videos of MTHs I have watched on the tube. Or maybe since it's the new version they upgraded the sound?

Not sure if MTH is coming out with another soon or not but thought I would ask.

Thanks!

The Vision BB and the MTH Railking Imperial BB are two TOTALLY different animals. The Imperial is nice for those with tight budgets and tight curves. Has a lot of high level detail for half the price of the full scale version. Even MTH's Premier BB, that is now coming with the smoking whistle, is far inferior in features, sound, and technology (and maybe even detail) to the Lionel Vision BB IMO. Many features on the Lionel Vision BB are first of their kind features in O gauge.

SJC pretty much has it there.

I own the imperial model with PS3, and while I think it is amazing for the price, details, and tighter curves that it can negotiate, the Lionel VL BB is just a behemoth. That is not only in size, but also in features.

For what it's worth, I do enjoy my Imperial Big Boy very much, and I think it has nice DCS features to boot. The sounds are nice, it runs well, it smokes well, it also just looks good since it has some of the finer details added.

Just keep in mind that while the two represent the same prototype, they are on two different levels in terms of the depth, if you will, considered in their construction.
