Anyone of our forum members get the new Long Island Imperial Mikado? Only asking about the LIRR version here...what do your PFA announcements say? I just got mine and gave it a quick spin around the layout before dinner....and the PFA announcements talk about bringing coal from Hagerstown MD to Winchester, Va....what the #$(@....I thought this was from Long Island...we should be picking up potatoes, fish, maritime equipment, whatever! At least give me a Long Island town or two.....!

I was just wondering what others may have...I was thinking maybe I got a "special" one or they were all like this. I would be surprised if they didn't have a Long Island sound file. If they did a special sound file for the RTR starter set Long Island 2-8-0, I bet there has to be one for the 2-8-2. I'm going to call today. The Chinese must have built this one on a Friday....

They must have also put the track I bought together on a Friday. I also bought some tubular track and they forgot to put the insulators on the center rail ties! I've heard of that happening but hadn't actually seen it until now.

Called MTH and spoke to a tech. The answer I got was "well trains travel all over the country and there are no other sound files to match the engine. Best thing you could do was find a sound file for a LIRR steam engine that may be a close match and use that" BUT the speed control, etc will still be a bit off due to the wheel size, etc. I'm not really willing to swap sound files as I've been less than happy with the results on each time I've tried to do it. Guess the Long Island Rail Road has a new branch line to Winchester, VA and Hagerstown MD....

I may be able to live with something like that but to have a Long Island engine, one that likely never left the Island, with sounds talking about mid-Virigina isn't right. Kind of like putting a Super Chief Santa Fe sound file in a European engine.

All kidding aside...this is not a very good answer. They need to create the sound file and make it available to their customers.

HERE is the link to the MTH website on the engine.

Not being one to settle, I contacted MTH on their Facebook page last night. This morning, they said they'd look into it. Just now, I was notified by MTH that they have a new sound file. It is the same as before only instead of traveling from Winchester, Va to Hagerstown MD, the announcements now say Jamaica and Montauk.

MTH gets a solid thumbs up and ultimate praise from me on this one. I will take the engine to my local dealer on Saturday to have it installed.
