I was just informed that for those who are waiting for the MTH new GS4 matching SP Daylight Passenger sets are scheduled arrival around April 30th.
I can't wait! I'm wondering if they will be using overhead LED lighting in these sets.

If you want a really awesome and accurate Daylight train, look around for the GGD cars; they're the best out there right now.
John, I saw them on the web but do you know if they are still selling them new? Is the price for these around the same as MTH set?
Thanks!
I'm sure they will rerun them again sometime in the future especially that MTH and Lionel both released the GS4/GS2
The GGD cars will cost more;
Especially if you buy 14 of them like I did
John, thanks a bunch for sharing all that with me and everyone else who comes across this forum. That's great to know. I already have my pre-order in for the MTH set and diner car over at ReadytoRoll. But all that is great to know and I saw some pics of the GGD cars and man they look awesome.

The GGD Daylight cars do indeed look fantastic, especially with the articulated chair cars as well as that articulated 3-section diner. I have two sets of the earlier MTH Daylight cars (I purchased two sets in order to have a longer train), but they simply are no comparison to the high-end GGD passenger cars.
Since I have four MTH GS-4 models (2 red & orange, and 2 black), a Lionel Legacy "supposed GS-4", and one of the newer Sunset/3rd Rail black GS-4 models, I have lots of choices when it comes to hauling the GGD Daylight train set. I don't ever take the MTH Daylight cars out anymore.
Hot Water,
On your Legacy GS-4, did you correct the fireball logo on the front side skirting? Also, did you replace the connecting rods with the correct ones for a GS-4?

I was wondering if you had that set. Good call. Did you get a set of PA's, F-units and E-units to rotate in as motive power?

John,
Yes on the ball & wing logo. I had/have a number of the "Signature Line" SP decal sets from Champ Decal Co., before they closed up. Thus, I had my custom painter buddy put the Champ ball & wing logos on each side of the skirts.
I have never been able to come up with the correct main rods for that Lionel Legacy model. I finally turned into a nice runner, inspire of never having been lubed at the factory. I am still toying with the idea of having the tender re-lettered from the as-delivered "Southern Pacific Lines" to the later billboard size "SOUTHERN PACIFIC". The problem then becomes the location of the train number indicator boards, and how to move then rearward.

Thanks for the reply Hot Water.
I'm wondering if the MTH main rods would fit, or if Scott at 3rd rail may have them as separate sale parts?
I couldn't really get past that discrepancy when I first noticed that; to me it actually stands out just as much, if not more, than the reversed fireball logos.

I have the Sunset GS4

Well I rotate my Sunset FP7 ABA set in there as a substitute and may use the new Sunset AC9 I just got back, for fun..... just to keep it an all Sunset/GGD train.
