You can but only conventionally (using the Legacy remote and a Legacy Power Master to vary track voltage). To operate it in command you would need the MTH DCS system.

Many hobbyists have both Legacy and DCS on their layouts. The two systems can be installed on the same layout and work together without issue for most people.

You meant  command system MT50-1001 ?

Yes either this https://mthtrains.com/50-1001 or this https://mthtrains.com/50-1036 will operate all MTH PS2 or PS3 locomotives under command control.
