My Premier GP38-2 drags and will stall at speeds below 10 smph when crossing my Lionel Fastrack coupling sections. The electromagnet in the center of the section is raised slightly. I have four of these and they're all the same. Pretty sure that is normal. Works perfectly with my Legacy locomotives.
The pickup rollers in the MTH don't seem to go up inside the truck assembly as far as the ones on my several Lionel Legacy engines. I started with a Lionel Legacy system and recently bought the MTH DCS system and my first locomotive. Other than the problem mentioned, it's running perfectly with both Legacy and DCS systems running at the same time.
Oh yes, the locomotive wheels are Hi-Rail and there's a -1 at the end of the product number.
