"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Sorry, I just saw this

The newest MTH bigboy that I got, has the MTH wireless drawbar on it. All my others (older models) have the wired tether.

In G scale, the board is in the engine. The speaker still is in the tender. I wish they would add a speaker in the engine. Our grandson asked when he was younger, "why does the sound come from the tender?"

even if they just put a tweeter in the engine, I believe it would help with the illusion...

Is there is a wireless tether between the engine and the tender like in O gauge, or are the locos like Standard Gauge where all the electronics are in the engine, and the drawbar is just a drawbar?

I assume you mean just a mechanical drawbar (no electrical connections)?

The terminology "wireless drawbar" is confusing.  If the engine-to-tender electrical connections are printed on to a narrow board, this is nevertheless wiring...hence the common terminology PWB (Printed Wire Board).

Even if the speaker could be crammed into the engine, there is the issue of the tender back-up light for engines that had them.

I have a MTH 1 gauge Railking Triplex locomotive. There is a large hook and loop coupler  (I wouldn't call it a drawbar) between tender and engine and a cable from the tender with a plug which should be plugged in the locomotive. And then it runs:

By the way: MTH Railking is called 1 gauge, not G scale/gauge.

And the Erie did not have Pennsy cabooses.
