Steam Engine Delivery Schedule Update

March 20, 2012 - M.T.H. Electric Trains will be recataloging select RailKing steam locomotives in the 2012 Volume 2 catalog, scheduled for release in April, in conjunction with those locomotive's expected release during the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2012. In addition to their pending release, each of these locomotives will arrive equipped with Proto-Sound 3.0 rather than Proto-Sound 2.0 as originally cataloged. Each will retain their originally cataloged item numbers. The M.T.H. website descriptions of each have been updated to reflect the Proto-Sound 3.0 feature change.

In addition to the RailKing models, it is expected that select Premier and HO models will also begin production in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2012. More release information on those models will be made in the coming weeks. No Premier steam locomotives will be featured in the 2012 Volume 2 catalog but promotion of Premier models is expected to begin again with the 2013 Volume 1 catalog, slated for release in October 2012.

In the Fall of 2011, M.T.H. announced that new catalog steam engine promotion had been halted while we expanded production capacity that up to that point had become increasingly unable to meet production goals. These capacity issues were exposed as HO and European steam engine demand continued to rise, forcing M.T.H. to accelerate our steam engine production expansion program to other M.T.H. production facilities. Admittedly, such expansion is not as easy as turning on a switch, however, progress on the production expansion is on track and meeting scheduling goals.
