Thanks appreciate the advice, should I stick with the Lionel transformers? Also is it 19 volts output with a load on the transformer or with no load on the tracks?
Lionel spec's TMCC and Legacy at 19 VAC maximum. I would guess that's what the locomotive is actually seeing. In any case, there's no reason to have more than 19 volts around for O-gauge, at least IMO. There's no problem using the MTH transformers for Lionel equipment, just keep the maximum voltage requirements in mind when you're running the Lionel stuff.
