Does anyone know what the maximum output voltage out of a MTH Z750 transformer should be.The most I can get out of mine is about 12 volts with a Railking engine pulling six freight cars. The whistle, bell, and direction controls work ok.I tried to use it with a Lion Chief Plus steamer but could not get the 18 volts needed for remote operation however the steamer did run in transformer mode.

Maybe something wrong with the controller. Should put out 18. For common, try hooking the brick directly to the TIU or whatever.

I am using an MTH 750 transformer for my trolley line. I have a new MTH trolley 3.0 on the line and the max voltage I get out of the transformer is about 15.5.....which I guess is ok as I don't want my trolley to go fast anyhow! However, the real downside for me is that I can't get the station stop programming to work with this transformer. Programming works just fine with my Z4000 though.
I was told and found out the Z1000 and Z750 Transformers work GREAT with DCS if there is NO CONTROLLER in the circuit. The controller interferes with the DCS Signal.
I had a loop powered with a Z1000 and controller running to DCS TIU. I could not get better than a 5 track Signal. Took the controller out and ran the Z1000 transformer directly to the TIU . My track signal was a SOLID 10 all the way round on this layout.
