I received an email from MTH announcing a new Railking baggage car offer for MTHRRC members. While it seems like a nice deal, and it makes me think twice about joint MTHRRC , I don't find myself particularly attracted to the color scheme. I would rather spend my $$ on other items. So...I was wondering is there anyone out there a fan of these club cars and engines? Why or why not?Are they really popular? Does MTH really sell a lot of these?

I like the color of the MTHRRC cars. I just am not interested in non-prototypical road names. To each his own.
Somebody must be buying them, MTH has been doing the series for years and years.
Look well done....but do not fit into my 'world'....
I actually love the look of that baggage car, but I have the EVO green on order. For the most part, I haven't been a fan of the series. I do have the 19th century tank car in MTH colors though. The recent EVO is very sharp in the deco, IMO.
I don't mind non prototypical to much but the series never did much for me. I have been tempted by a couple of diesels but never pulled the trigger.
I have a pair of the Premier ES44's (one of them being a service station model) and a pair of the RailKing (ES44 and SD70ACE). The intent with both pairs was to pull the train of York boxcars, of which I have...more than 25?...well , all the ones issued so far. I don't actually have another role for them.

RailRide....That is a nice idea...I like that.
Thanks guys...so..In your opinion, is the MTHRCC membership worth it?

Yes, I think it is. I have purchased a couple of engines through the MTHRRC that were really good buys. I just received the engine shown with the baggage car a few weeks ago. I am guessing they were sold at or possibly even below dealer costs to club members, very good pricing. Their offerings are usually special, limited edition runs and I think only 125 or so of those are typically made. Probably collectible for some, just a good buy for others. MTH has been doing some type of engine roughly once per year since I joined about 3 years ago. They have been both Premier and Railking that I have purchased so far.
I think the best deal is the MTHRRC membership that includes a piece of rolling stock. You can join RailKing, Premier, Tinplate or a couple of others depending on the car you like the best that year. Each of their lines has a yearly offering. You also get discounts on PS-2 upgrades (soon to be PS-3, I think) and other special offerings throughout the year, like the baggage car. If there are any leftovers available, you can also purchase cars from previous years. No matter which version you get, you are eligible for the special offerings like the engines and baggage car.
If there is a car you don't like that year you can always buy the membership with no car. I think it's still $25 dollars.
I have a number of the cars, all the ones that Fit my Steam Era motif.
I have avoided getting the modern ones and those have been prevalent lately.
I would love a Steam engine in the Livery of the set.
I know there was one, I wasn't into trains back then.
Thanks for the insights all....!
thanks for the post must have missed that one,,,,called right away,,,yes I also just buy the basic 25.00 membership ,then if I want, buy what car or cars I like
I do like the car color. It looks streamlined. But not usually a fan of non-prototypical. Good question though.
