Hi all, after reading Barry's wifi companion a few times I finally got my feet wet and installed the TIU and WIU. All seemed to go well. I have two tracks. For starters I put a MTh Proto 2 Subway set on each track. I was able to run the trains, change the direction, tap up the speed etc. My concern is that I am not using the Locomotive settings screen correctly. I was able to set the direction lock to forward as that looks more subway to me. The problem I am having is setting the maximum speed and acceleration rates. I can move the sliders to where I want them. However if I tap back into the engine control screen the changes aren't kept. I am using an iPhone 5s and the premimum app. Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong?

thanks

Frank

Frank, I tried but was unable to duplicate your situation.  I am using an iPhone7 with the premium app.  Within the app, I brought up an engine, changed acceleration and a few other settings.  I went back to the main screen then checked and the settings were still there.  I opened another engine then went back to the first - still there.  I shut down the app and restarted it - still there.

You probably did these things already, but I'll mention them anyway:

  • make sure IOS is current - should be 10.3.3
  • make sure DCS is current - v6.0
  • make sure wifi firmware is v1.1

If you have done all of these things, I don't know what to tell you.  Maybe Barry will comment on this, if anyone knows it would be him.

Frank, I've had this happen a few time to me on my Android devices and haven't been able to figure exactly what series of functions I go through to repeat the problem reliably. It seems that this issue strikes me at random times but mostly when I am getting everything turned on and issuing the first commands to get engines started & moving.

If I ever get a pattern figured out to repeat the error 100% of the time, I'll submit it to MTH R&D. Until then I deal with, it hasn't bothered me much.

Hi guys thank you for the replies. I have both my TIU and WIU upgraded to the latest firmware and my iOS DCS app is the latest available from the Apple app store. I am still having the same problem. When I click on the loco settings screen I can change any setting that has specific buttons, like the direction lock where I can set it to unlocked, forward, or reverse. However if I try to change any item with a slider, like the max speed, the slider appears to move but when I click back on the loco controls button the changes aren't kept. I am using my iPhone with Voiceover. Do you think that is the issue? If it is then there is likely something in MTH's app that isn't ahearing to Apple's accessibility guidelines. Does anyone know where I can report a bug to MTH or whatever entity they farm out the app development to?

thanks

Frank,

Does anyone know where I can report a bug to MTH or whatever entity they farm out the app development to?

While I haven't seen what you describe, it could be an issue with using Voiceover. Does it occur when you turn off Voiceover?

Regardless, report app issues using the DCS App itself: More... Screen/App Settings/App Support and use the DCS App Contact Form that's provided. I can assure you that these forms are reviewed by MTH daily.
