Well...thanks to a fellow forum member, and I would identify him but I would rather let him chime in, I am now a proud owner of an A/B set of Weaver Models passenger sharks!!  As many of you know, I have been looking for a set for a LONG time having had my order affected first by the shop's owner having health problems and my order getting lost somehow, and then being canceled because Weaver ended up not doing a second run.

So...after begging and pleading and calling everywhere, I was offered a set at a fair price by one of our nice forum members!

I am posting pictures that he sent me so that you all can enjoy.  The set is a weathered version.  I will post more photos once they arrive and are in service on the layout.  ENJOY!

If there are, it must be able pull just about anything you can put behind it.

Yes, there are two motors in the A-unit. with and EOB drive system.  There are sets where the B-units are also powered, via Weaver in house, I believe.

That is a very nice weathering job.  Thanks for posting the pictures, and congratulation on an exceptional acquisition.     Mike CT

Hi Alan, congrats on finding those beauties.  I have an A-B set of freight sharks RF16's by MTH Premier, which are shorter.  As a kid, the sharks going by were frequent and ominous looking beasts, as I recall.  I never, or don't recall tuscan passenger sharks, cause I'm sure they'd of made an impression.  Prototypically, they must have been lengthier than the freights?  Thanks for posting the pics, and enjoy!

Rich

Thanks guys!!  I am really looking forward to these arriving on the property.  To be honest, I had to make a sacrifice to get them...no food for a couple of months but I need to go on a diet anyway!!

The B-unit is unpowered as these were the first release.

Brian...sorry I missed your call yesterday.  I am on floor duty in about a half hour so I will try to get to you this weekend.  These are in fact the weathered units I was speaking to you about and are from the forumite that bought your NYC passenger set.

Thanks,

Alan

Yes, they were!  I lived on the PRR main line when I was a kid, and I used to watch the Sharks rumbling and growling by at the edge of town, with their long, long coal drags.  With their looming dark snouts and gyrating Mars lights, they looked like giant alien centipedes, not to be trifled with.

Alan,

I think that you will really be happy with these.  The nice weathering job and brass detail on them really makes them look realistic and unique.  I kind of wish that I could have found room in my collection to keep them but I have many other PRR passenger locomotives.  So, my loss is your gain.  They are all boxed up and ready to go!  Enjoy!

Thanks James...I didn't know if you wanted me to mention you specifically so I didn't...but I am glad you chimed in.  So that you all know, James posted on my original thread that I started last year during my quest to find these units.  In fact I believe he posted several times and was the one that said that if I was patient enough, I would find a set.

Alan

Boy oh Boy!!...James emailed me late this afternoon and confirmed that the locomotives are in the hands of FedEx and should be here by the end of next week...probably Friday.  Sure hope I don't get that guy we all saw that launched packages over fences!!

I have never looked more forward to getting a train item....these are going to be the crown jewels!!

Alan

Nope...they are not for sale.  I have them.  I had several folks contact me about them since I had not given an update.  A couple of problems came up that are being worked out and hopefully all will be well.  I don't want to go into detail here since that is not appropriate so I will respond to PE...

Thanks,

Alan

OK...here is the update or at least what I feel I can post here on the forum.  Shipping delicate brass locomotives across country is not something that I would want to do normally but in this case there was no choice.  FedEx was the chosen carrier and I have to tell you that I must have gotten that guy we all saw on TV throwing packages!!  While the outer carton was not breached, it was obvious that at least the end had been "stressed".  When I opened the package and then opened the locomotive box the first thing I saw unwrapping the B-unit was that quite a few of the brass grills along the top were broken loose with one being completely broken and inside the car body.  All of the builder's plates were broken off with two of them missing.  In addition, when I put the A-unit on the track, there was no sound and erratic operation.  I just couldn't get the unit to respond properly to the controller. Fortunately, there was no paint damage or body damage.

Needless to say, this caused a lot of stress for both me and the seller.  I called Weaver on Monday to see if they could help and Gary talked with me and instructed me on what to look for and what to do to the boards before we made a decision on what to do.  I decided that I could repair the grills on the B-unit so I took the body off and put the grills back in place then used hot glue to make sure they stayed put.  Worked like a charm.  Tonight, I took off the A-unit body and immediately saw what the problem was....every board in the unit was loose or completely unplugged!!  These babies really had a rough ride!!  I don't know how hard you have to bounce a box around to unplug everything but whatever happened, it was an easy fix.  I simply plugged everything back in and tested the unit.  It came to life!!  Everything seemed to be working just fine so I put the A-unit body back on and connected both units together and ALL IS WELL!!

The only thing I need now is the two different builder's plates and everything will be back to normal.  Weaver doesn't have both of them so I need to figure out where I can find a set that matches the plates on the other side.

I will post some pictures soon...

Thanks!

B-unit  (1) on either side.

The builders plates appear to be missing in this photo you posted.

Probably stolen by some nefarious O-scale rail fan! d4rn foamers!

These are sweet looking; I see Lionel is now offering matching PRR weathered RF16s.

Too bad we can't send our existing units there for weathering!

Thanks,

Mario
