In this new episode of on the road I talk about the new hype that's been started by the resent release of the new Lionel catalog and what I will, most likely, be purchasing from it.
Enjoy!

Nice vid! I wish I had money for the Tinplate S2 set myself.
I plan on getting the LC+ NW2 in Southern and the new LC+ #4501 Southern Mikado when they both are available with blue tooth control.
Very nice video. You got me excited about items that I won't buy, but still imagined how desireable they are. Thanks for the short "dream".
After reviewing the latest Lionel catalog the only thing that I will be ordering is more blood pressure meds.
Those prices are insane. At $95 for a caboose, $85 for a 40' steel reefer and cool $1,000 for a pair of E8's (only one of which is powered) I can PASS on all of it.

Where do you ever pay list prices for anything O gauge, Jim?

I have been in this hobby (3-rail) for almost 30 years and to the best of my knowledge I have probably only paid msrp about 5% of the time. But with Lionel prices these days... even with a 20 discount they are IMHO TOO HIGH.
Confusius say: Too High... No Buy!
Jim.
I for sure understand that! That's why I'm on the fence still about getting the Conrail OCS. I want it, but I'm not a fan of having only one powered unit in the A-A set. I mean...I know they are offering another powered unit in the set with 4 cars, but still.
I do like that S-2 set as well. And I'm curious what Bluetooth control will mean for Legacy. BigRail
When will hard copies be in shops around the country? I don't like pictures l can pull up, and one shop l was in today didn't have and other was closed.

They probably won't be out in hard copy until after the York show.
I hear you about the Conrail OCS! Even at the preorder price of $899, one can find a Weaver or K-Line E8's, upgrade to err electronics, add LEDs, brass details, correct paint and decals and still be ahead of the mfgs price!
Btw, the 4 car set also comes with an E8 too . IMHO many will order the set and additional cars with the electronics. Just like the AFT set.
My feelings are about the same as yours, Stirling.
The 587 Mikado is the one I want the most, but I think it'd be lighter on my bank account to wait until they actually arrive and wait for a black Friday sale. I don't know how good a seller it'll be, so I'll hope they won't be sell outs. There are still plenty of NYC Empire State Hudsons and first run Heavy Mikados still sitting around, yet the 2-8-0's sold out almost immediately and the GS-4's disappeared over the Christmas season from almost all the big dealers, so it seems like a roll of the dice for this one.
Just for comparison's sake, I recently saw in one of our local train stores an MTH Illinois Central E-8 ABA set with Proto3. It was reduced to $600.00. Seems like a lot more bang for the buck than a single motored AA set from Lionel. The MTH set features two motors in each A unit.
I would like to have a pm berkshire. That is if it has the right whistle.

Interesting comment. Charlie Ro had the AFT Gs4 at Amhurst for just under$1400.00
I guess the correct term would be many. Dealers like Nassau Hobby and CTT Trains have no more Legacy GS-4's and the other dealers seem to have leftover Daylights or Freedom Trains, but not really both at the same time.
Previous runs of the Legacy GS4 with the correct whistle are showing up on EBay for $700-800. Can't beat that price at all. I almost pulled the trigger for the whistle alone.... for half the price of my new ones.
