I need to have a Lionel Alco S-2 and Lionel NE caboose custom painted in an LV based scheme as an anniversary gift for my wife who loves trains. The finished pieces will represent the train we were married on. I would appreciate names and e-mails of custom painters that you personally dealt with....hopefully those whose talents are recognized as the best in this field and have crisp images of their work. Any help is appreciated as this is a special gift. Many thanks. Mike

One name comes to mind, Harry Heike. One of the best, if not the best, in this industry.

Many thanks for this lead.....I will follow this up as well. Does he have a web site or e-mail address?
Harry is a Forum sponsor, so look above and you should find a link to his website.
He is much more than a custom painter. He builds exquisite structures and has been around our hobby for many years. Here is a sample of his work.

I trusted the painting of my Lionel ALCO S-2 from Southern to L&N colors to Malcolm, who made a Big Woody L&N caboose for me.
Here are a couple pics of the ALCO S-2:
This is a pic of a L&N Big Woody that Malcolm made (mine was #523 - no pictured)

I will only use David from now on, he is a true perfectionist like me. David was the only one that could get the number boards straight... the first time!
Thanks to all for the great leads. Does anyone have the website for David Long at Kelly Creek Backshop. Google was not much help on this one. Thanks. Mike K.
