I have this brand new unit with instructions.  I want to use it with an insulated section of Lionel Fastrack.  To test it, I connected the red and black wires from CW-80 accessory posts.  Please look at attached pic for reference: I noticed that when I connected structure posts 2 & 3, the rescue mechanism would take action.  If I connected 1 & 2 or 1 & 3, the lights would come on and the mechanism would not cycle.  I would like to wire this so that the lighting is powered independently of the mechanism.  I would like to control all of the layout wiring from one source and be able to dim the lights without affecting the power for the mechanism action.

What's the right way to wire this?

Thanks!

Garrett

The only way I know of to vary the illumination is wire the light by itself so it has a different power supply.

Been a long while since I helped wire one of these. IIRC in your drawing the "2" post is power to it, the "1" post is common for the light, and the "3" post is operation common switched via the 2 and 3 post of the track trigger. I have forgotten if 1-3 or 2-3 is completing the circuit by train weight which would be the same as an insulated track.

The new manual shows it hooked to a 153IR via the normally open terminal but has power to terminal 1, ground to terminal 2, and trigger to terminal 3.
