Just said he couldn't get one from MTH. I was the first to Pre order one. Must not be enough to go around. Seem 's the only hi volume dealers have it.

Receiving EL AS-616 and MTA R-12's 8-13, all ordered at the same time.

So much for pre-orders and Mega Dealers. If you choose a "sub" dealer, you may not get the product. Lesson learned.

My pre-order shipped this morning from Atlanta.... Indiana.  You might give 'em a call and see if they have or can get more:

I’m getting mine through MrMuffin’sTrains. I know Nassau has one listed on eBay. I’m Excited to hear your sound script!

Pre -ordered mine, even did the S.I. sound script.

My SIRT 8800 rolled in, today, and its a jewel!  Having missed out on the ALCo S-2s, I've had to settle for the YouTube videos, done by both you and Mr. Zug, to the point that I'm afraid of being barred.  I was very much looking forward to your script, what Mr. Zug referred to as "the tawkin'", but have been disappointed, thus far.

Not being a fan of cab chatter or radio transmissions that violate the Operating Rules and any concept of good sense, I had to get out Barry's Book and look up how to activate the feature but was only shown how to turn in on in "auto" mode.  After listening to the Cummins twins idle for over an hour, all I got was some background railroad yard sounds and one very Midwestern sounding: "I'm ready when you are."  Am I doing something wrong or did they flush your script?

I also noted the absence of the advertised "Kadee mounting pads", they must have missed the boat.  There are no pads visible, no shims or appliances in the box and no mounting instructions in the manual.

Mr. Muffin still shows the SIRT version in stock but they may be going fast.  Also, the MTH Product Finder shows that our friend at EZ-Catch has them in stock, too.  It might be nice to have one that actually set its tread and flange on Staten Island...

Audio wasn't done correctly as I was informed by a few buyers. I don't think it was checked or tested. They will all have to be re-done.

MTH #20-21117-1 Staten Island GE 44 Ton Diesel Engine w/Proto-Sound 3.0 PFA Script

  1. Hey Sal, we’re doing a shove on 4 dead MU’s at Clifton first thing. Shops working on them tomorrow. OK Sir.
  2. We have a small cut waiting for South Beach Line, mostly coal today. We’ll run over there after lunch and start staging cars. Where at? Saint George yard.
  3. Hey Tom, hand me that order. Here you go. Ah, all home roads I see……… seems so.
  4. Waiting on a signal. 9032 is working the main line. We have a car float assignment for 26th St, float 251. ….. OK…………We’re Clear to proceed!
  5. How’s the diesel fuel storage? They said X421 is still full. We need to push an FB down to the Lumber Yard & bring back two from Pouch Terminal. Have John open the Front Street gate. OK, I’ll grab the flag and head up front!
  6. Frank told me a switch needs repair over at Hawkins Coal. We’ll grab the keys and tool car over at Tompkinsville freight house. Let’s head over there now.
  7. (SSD) Back in twelve, yeah, one more day. See you at 6 AM sharp.(Crickets)

Note: 1950’s 60’s operation. No radios, just inside cab chatter.

The 8800 left Staten Island around 1954 after its last work assignments were done.

Thereafter, it worked on the B&O in Green Spring WV until 1963.

Hope they will recall and fix them.

Thats the beauty of DCS. No recall needed. All they have to do is post another sound file. They have done that in the past. The NYC Mohawks are one example.

Pete

I never could figure out how to do that using my probably outdated TIU.  Software, cable, ?

For PS3 engines you will have to download the latest version of DCS loader to a computer with at least Windows XP or later on it. You can use a MAC with Boot Camp or other virtual app like Parallels on it. Then you need a serial cable to connect the TIU to your computer. Learning curve is not steep at all.
