Hi Fellow OGR Members…….

Problem with the new RailKing Cab Forward

This is the RailKing Cab Forward Set MT3016501 Cab Forward RailKing

On the bottom of the tender there is no DCS / DCC Switch & no information in the instructions, about this issue.

This switch is missing.

What is the story about this switch being missing?

Engine Item #30-1650-1E

See attached photo. Thanks Gary

If you follow Marty's with the new PS 3 version boards there is a jumper on the back of the  board  to move , if you leave the jumper on it is set for DCS, if you remove the jumper then it is set for DCC.just read Marty mth tech he can explain it also, that's where i read about the new PS 3 boards!

Alan the jumper in picture is installed which means it is setup for DCS, if jumper removed setup is for DCC OK

Check this forum if you have any more questions

This is the issue. I have my table at a train show and I am selling this engine. The buyer flips it over and sees the missing switch. I have no prove that RailKing is leaving off the switch. NOT A GOOD DEAL FOR MYSELF OR THE BUYER.

If MTH is doing this, I need prove from the manufacture. Do you have proof, that I can show. Thanks Gary

Still looking for a link from the Manufacture on this issue.

Hi Barry • I can get over it, but when I am at a train show and selling this engine at my table and the buyer sees no switch, and the buyer ask where is the switch. What proof do you have that I can share with the buyer?

It is that simple, not rocket science.

A Magazine Article or something in writing from MTH, that is all I need.....

Thanks Gary

You're not going to run it on a 2-rail layout as it's not 2-rail compatible, but you can run it on a 3-rail DCC layout if you remove the jumper (or better still install a switch to connect/disconnect the pins).

Hi Matt – No two rail operations - I just want to keep the resale value at a train show, below is the manual that came with the engine, I have 16 engine on my DCS Remote Control and 7 are Proto Sound 3.0 and all the MTH & RailKings have the DCS/DCC Switch. This is the first engine with out the switch. See manual that came with the engine.

I am at my table at a train show and I have this manual and the engine. The buyer ask where is the switch, the manual shows a switch, I need a up dated manual on this engine and can not find it on the MTH web page.

I will have to call MTH for a Updated manual.

Hi John • Thanks for the infor. you stated "it has been explained multiple times"

What is the source of this information.

I would like to read up on the missing DCC/DCS Switch.

Thanks Gary

Hi John • Got itThanks to you and the others for the help.

Steps for programing a RailKing Steam Engine, with or with out

DCS / DCC Switch

1, Menu

2. System

3. Engine Set UP

4. Add Engine

5. The DCS Remote Control will do a auto set-up

For the Cab Forward RailKIng No. 30-1650-1E

     Screen will show SP 4882 / #4293

Jeff Strank, from MTH Technical Support send me a signed e-mail stating that the new,

RailKing Steam Engine, Quick Start Manual, will be on their web page by mid June, 2015.

At this point, all looks well with this Cab Forward SP 4-8-8-4 Imperial No. 30-1650-1E
