Thanks Sam. The LEDs are warm white, but they are very bright, 200 lumens each. They are not dimmable. They are either on or off. I bought warm white strip lights for my Bilt EZ building, but they are probably 4500K instead of 2700K. I bought a PWM dimmer for it that helps a little. I really don’t want to put 35 120 volt incandescent bulbs on my layout. I may try some LED Christmas lights next.

I could not find 12 volt C7 LED bulbs with lower lumens. I think the incandescent bulbs are only about 60 lumens and they are dimmable.  So, it looks like I might stick with the 120 volt setup for the ceramic houses. I can switch to 120 volt C7 dimmable LEDs over time, but don't need to do that right away. Instead of pots, Lutron makes plug-in dimmer switches. I can add those over time too if I find that some houses are too bright. I'll start wiring this weekend.

George, do any of these work for you?  My cousin has an old 4Runner.  He just replaced all the bulbs recently with LED's from that place.  Since they're here in St. Louis, he was happy to pick them up rather than ship them.  I bookmarked them when he told me.  They seem to have a lot of stuff.

Hi Mike,

Yes, those are the low lumen, high voltage LED bulbs. I just wish they made those in 12 volt.

hi george great work could you tell me where to get the photo of the stone wall ? would like to use it on my lay-out thx

I believe this is what I used. https://www.shutterstock.com/i...obblestone-737409754 I didn't keep track. I Google'd "stone wall cartoon".

I used a small image and copied it multiple times to create a larger pattern in PowerPoint for printing.

I did the same thing to create this viaduct for the 2007 Nixon Library display.

I see.  Sorry, I admit I had to reread just now and pay closer attention to what you're trying to do.

I might roll the dice on a 25 pack of them for $21.95 anyway.  If you're stuck with 120 for a while, at least they won't generate as much heat.  Also, have you experimented with one of these LED bulbs with a 12-volt power supply?  I wonder what happens.  Maybe pick up one at Lowe's/HD (returnable).

I have a few. I could try. My gut tells me it would need 60% of the rated voltage to turn on. I have some 12 volt LEDs that turn on at a little over 7 volts. You are right that they will generate less heat. They will use about 12% of the power too.

I see your hand-vac in that photo.  I've never found one I really liked.  Is that a good one?

It works.  I think it is an original Dust Buster. It's not great. For big jobs, I have micro attachments for my shop vac.

There is a small attachment for the hand-vac that I use. With that on, it picks up more stuff. The felt traps some dirt though.

I would think there are some better ones out now with lithium batteries, but I haven't looked.
