Here is a basic idea of how I put LED's in the car. The size are 3mm. They look big in the picture because of the brightness.
The finished result.

I can't seem to view the photos
Only the sixth one is showing up for me. The rest are broken-link icons.

Same here but it looks pretty nice so far, I might just do that to my Proto 2.0 set
Pictures are working.
R those Evans design LED's that U R Using?
THEY LOOK GREAT,GLAD I HAVE THE ORIGINAL 1ST RUN.
No; I thought about installing white ones and using a couple of small toggle switches. Since I only plan for the most part running it on a loop and not out and back so I just went with the red LED's. Evans LED's are very bright and they suggest putting a"Like" color of paint on them to tone them down. I used red Testors modle enamal on the ones you see in the photo. They are still pleanty bright but easy on your eyes. Evans has these lights but DC only. I'm not exactly sure how they work?

with the flaw of the r142 it has inspired me to to add red leds to all end cars maybe even convert interior lights
I did use Red for the number light. I usually go with the same color LED even if the lens is red. I have used red LED's on my passenger cars that don't have an observation car. I have even used them on some of my tinplate cars.
Would these pass off as interior lights?
I don't know much about those lights but I believe they would need to be converted to run on AC power.
those will work fine, just make sure you use resistors with them. I use two 680ohms 1/2watt resistors to get my desired brightness.
