Curious as to why this one would be considered a 'fantasy' scheme?

The way is was pictured and advertised in the catalog, it was supposed to be much darker than what was actually produced, look at the how it was depicted in the catalog.

any chance they make passenger cars to match the fantasy scheme?

I am losing daylight but here are a few pic of the Drefuss 5454 with the Vision line baggage car and one of the 2018 Lionel baggage cars advertised to have Rail Sound but shipped missing that feature.. The last passenger car is a 2018 MTH NYC car, one of eight

So what is this supposed to match?

The fantasy Dreyfuss 5454 is a dead match for the Lionel Vision line sound baggage car issued 2918. I think Lionel will issue the rest of the passenger cars next year. They have the palat already. The other baggage car does not have a strip but matches the grey. This is also a 2918 NYC car.  I am using MTH for the rest of my consist. They are darker but work for me right now. If you consult any books on the few years the Drefuss were run as they aged the consists became more mismatched as need overcame aesthetics. To my knowledge there are no color images of this train so we do the best we can.

My fingers did a poor job of that last entry on my phone.  Palette and 2018 for the cars.

It's supposed to be the later 20th Century scheme, used after the locomotives had lost their streamlining and hence were never painted to match in the real world, per the Lionel catalog.

After they lost their streamlining, the color was black. They were already black underneath the streamlining,….

Search for Dreyfuss Hudson cover, the first four items will be the coupler couplers.  Can also search by the 7 digit sku and the locomotive info page will include the coupler cover.
