Recently picked up a new Lionel automatic milk car for a friend. Running on fast track, no issues with the operating track and platform.

The uncoupler feature of the operating track works fine. However, seem to be having an issue with the milk operating function. When in position the milk car doesn't work at all. However a bit of wiggling of one of the couplers allowed the car to work.

Close inspection found no issue with the track or truck/shoe. We added a small piece of aluminum foil to the track surface and hooray it works.

Question here, is the issue due to the groove in the shoe being to small? or the track not being high enough? or?? We're talking a small amount of adjustment here. As is, we'll add a piece of metal tape to the track surface and live with it.

Anyone have anything like this happen??

tks

New issues after yesterday it appears.

A bit of metal tape on the fastrack solves the issue. Thought I'd try the new milk car on my existing PW layout.

No action at all, not even a buzz no matter what I tried (my old 3472 worked fine). A closer look shows the new version has a greater distance between the trucks, and in fact only one of the trucks was on the PW operating tracking section when the car was at the platform. Not sure if this is an issue but bottom line was the car didn't work (and one disappointed new kid with a new toy).

Have to ask, the new milk car is clearly longer than the original. Does this create a new issue when using the PW accessory track??? Or is it the same issue in dealing the rail height??

Thks guys, trying keep a 9 year old happy!!
