My smoke units come on full speed when I first start up a locomotive or lash up?  I always set my smoke on low setting. and when running a lash up if I adjust the volume of the consist, only the lead engine adjusts up or down. I notice these problems more with PS3 than PS2.

I guess I don't have the settings saved, how do I do that?  My smoke units never use to come on at startup, usually I have them turned off. and never have them set on full. They now start up (smoke units) like conventional start.

When in lash up mode when I want to turn down or up the overall volume of consist only the lead engine responds.

Clem,

I haven't seen that in DCS 5.0, however, it isn't something that I typically adjust. If you have an issue adjusting lashup member smoke volume, there's a work-around that should let you get the results that you want:

  • Startup the lashup and set smoke using the CONTROL menu.
  • Press ENG and promote the desired member to the Active Engine List and then make it the active engine in the remote's LCD window. Do not press Startup.
  • Press Menu/Control/Smoke Volume and set the member';s smoke volume to low, medium or maximum.
  • Repeat the previous two steps for any other member engines for which you want to change the smoke setting.
  • Press ENG and reselect the lashup.
  • Press the FSV soft key to save the member engine's settings.

The smoke volume should be as desired on subsequent lashup startups.
