I was perusing the internet for surface mounted LED's to light my non lit structures. I had purchased some before on Ebay but I couldn't find them again. I came across some that didn't look the same but I thought I would give them a whirl. I couldn't believe how bright they were and they never got one bit hot. I thought I would share in case anyone else may be looking for a lighting solution too. I have attached some photos to share. When I ordered them they said the were 12-16 volts and were used for LED spotlights. They sure look great in model train structures though. You also need to make sure that the insides of your buildings are darker than night in the Black Forest. If anyone wants more info please feel free to send me an email ithat is in my profile.

There are many different shapes of these super bright LEDs on eBay. I like the rectangular ones.

Those are designed to have a heatsink, so be careful driving them too hard, they'll overheat without it. An auction # would be useful so we actually know what you have.
They have built in heatsinks, left them on about 3 hours and still cool to the touch. The rectangular ones are not as bright.

John, do COB LED's require a heat sink or are they built into the circuit board?
I don't know what COB means but these have their own heatsinks.

Thanks, Arthur. Very interesting and informative.

How about LSMALBOWCO ?? You got me on that one.
This is like trying to figure out some of those fancy license plates we have around here.
Also, I think I am going to order some of the LEDs posted here to try out, I have never used any of these and they do look pretty cool.

Made me laugh, thanks
Don't laugh too hard, you know what happens then!
Now that it's been decoded I remember you telling me that before I think. I would have been here a while if no one had provided any decoding. The poor old memory just ain't what it used to be!!

Sorry John I didn't read carefully. These were not purchased VIA an auction site.
So... does it need a heat sink or not?
No it does not. I retested again last night with mounting tape and it was good to go after several hours.
