I HAVE MY NEW TIU CONNECTED UP WITH THE FIXED ONE AND TWO POWERED BY BOTH TRANSFORMER AND AUX INPUT. RED LIGHT FLASHES ONCE AND PILOT LIGHT IS ON STEADY. I PRESS READ AND IT SAYS FIXED INPUT 2, 3 , AND 4 NOT FOUND AND I WANT TO RUN OFF OF FIXED INPUT 2. THE HAND HELD CANT FIND THE ENGINE AND SAYS IT IS NOT ON THE TRACK. IF I TURN OFF POWER TO FIXED INPUT 1 AND PULL WALL WORT SO NO LIGHTS ARE ON THE ENGINE RUNS FINE ON STRAIGHT POWER. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE NEW TIU. THE OLD ONE IS INTO MTH FOR REPAIR AND NOT BACK FROM MTH YET. THE OLD TIU HAD AN ID OF 3, DOES MY OLD HANDHELD HAVE TO BE ID 3 ALSO AND IF SO HOW DO YOU CHANGE IT. THANKS.

I'm not sure if others would understand? I just didn't get your statement about pressing the READ button?
When you do, it should come back on a message of what TIU's (numbers) are active (powered) and what engines are on powered track.
It doesn't tell you which channels of each of those TIU are powered.
I have a feeling you're describing that TIU #s 2, 3, and 4 are not found? (probably if they aren't powered up)
WITH TIU POWERED, I PRESS READ AND A MESSAGE COME ON THE SCREEN SAYING INPUT 2 NOT FOUND, INPUT 3 NOT FOUND INPUT 4 NOT FOUND AND INPUT 5 NOT FOUND. IT DOES NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT INPUT 1. THAT IS ALL THAT IT SHOWS. PRESS READ AGAIN AND IT DOES THE SAME FORMAT. I DO AN ENGINE SEARCH WITH ONE NEW ENGINE OF PROGRAM TRACK AND IT SAYS ENGINE TO FAR AWAY AND IT IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE TIU. I THINK THE PROPLEM IS A NEW ADDRESS OF 1 IN THE TIU IS NO MATCHING WHAT OLD DEFECTIVE TIU HAD FOR AND ADDRESS. IT WAS 3 BLINKS AND WORKED WITH CURRENT HAND HELD. HOW DO I CHANGE THE ADDRESS SO BOTH TIU AND HANDHELD ARE TALKING TO EACY OTHER.
yES IT SAYS INPUTS NOT FOUND, 2,3,4,
I PRESS READ AND A MESSAGE COME ON THE SCREEN SAYING INPUT 2 NOT FOUND, INPUT 3 NOT FOUND INPUT 4 NOT FOUND AND INPUT 5 NOT FOUND.
No,it does not say what you claim. Was it most likely states is the following 4 messages:
"TIU #2 Not found" followed by "TIU #3 Not found" followed by "TIU #4 Not found" followed by "TIU #5 Not found".
This would be because your remote lists all 5 TIUs but only TIU #1 is available.
While you should never include in the remote any TIUs that are not present, when you do the messages are completely normal.
This and a whole lot more about DCS is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!" This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store! |
ok, yes barry you are correct, so how do I get the remote to pair with input 1 as the remote paired with input 3 on the tiu that went defective. I assume the remote should pair with input 1. the tiu I want to use is brand new and the remote is older but worked until the old tiu went kaput.
press menu/system/remote setup/edit remote address/ then change address to 3 press thumb wheel down again and address will be changed.
then try your tiu again!

No, do not do the above!
First, there is no "pairing". This isn't Bluetooth. Proceed as follows:
- Power off the TIU and then power it back on, and count how many times the red LED blinks before coming on steady. This number of blinks is your TIU's ID#.
- In the remote, press Menu/System/TIU Setup/Add TIU.
- Look at the list. If your TIU's ID# is present, add that ID#. Regardless, go to the next step.
- Press ENG, then press Menu/System/TIU Setup/Delete TIU.
- Delete any TIU that is not the TIU ID# that you have.
Now, press READ. If you followed the above steps and there are't any additional issues, you should see the message "TIU #X Found", where X is your TIU's ID#.
Power off the TIU and then power it back on, and count how many times the red LED blinks before coming on steady. This number of blinks is your TIU's ID#.
This is key to success,,, Count the blinks....How many blinks does each tiu blink??
Seems you have 4 tiu and Tiu #3 has gone for repair. It's still will be shown in the remote so you still can't edit the new tiu #1 to take tiu's #3 place.
Delete tiu #3 from the remote... With only the new Tiu #1 powered edit it's address to tiu #3.
Since Tiu 1 was edited to #3 you now have to add tiu Tiu#1 back into the remote so the original Tiu #1 will function.
At the risk of confusing everyone, I would take this approach when a TIU needs replacement. I would not delete a TIU from the remote:
1. Using Loader 5.0, back up remote to computer.
2. Reset one remote (this cleans it out)
3. Power up the new TIU, which should be #1, and add it to the remote. If not #1, don't sweat it; won't make a difference
4. Edit the address of the new TIU to whatever you want it.
5. Reset the remote again.
6. Using Loader 5.0, Restore the remote from the computer.
I cleared out the remote and did the tiu reset and it gave me the choice of address number 5, so picked it and lo and behold it now works fine. thanks for all the help.
