Is it true?

Yes! And I saw them.Very nice! Level of detail like Railking Scale/Early Premier diesels.
New 16bit sound system, very nicely done handrails, lots of add on details, very nice tooling.
MSRP is around $350,I expect street price around $175-200.Road names are NYC,ACL,UP and GN.

I would definitely order the ACL GP-30. Are there powered and dummy available? I am assuming they are painting these black and not purple.
16 bit sound? All the time? Conv.? 16 bit able to be placed ibto older W/WBB items?
Is it scale size? would be nice is some one could take one out of the hall to photograph outside of building, Maybe they will take one to the Grandstand meeting this afternoon.
Uh-oh! Look out all you O Gauge manufacturers: Here comes the Bach-Man!

Yes,the ACL is grey and true 1/4" scale.
There will be more information coming on the new sound system.
I'm going to miss the grandstand meeting but I'm sure some other members will chime in.

DID BACHMAN SUGGEST A CAB INTERIOR W/FIGURES FOR THE MORE DETAILED DEISELS
This is great news. I like GP30s a lot.
I hope Bachmann eventually does this paint scheme...
This is good news. I was thinking of hunting for a UP after seeing one at the Portola RR museum. Might as well do road number 849 since it is a survivor.

Well, I guess Marty will be getting more of my money. I think the NYC is a must have.

Good Work, Bachmann and BucksCo!!!
Here's one you GOTTA DO (BALTIMORE WILL LOVE THIS AS MUCH AS THOSE "FLAT FACE" PETER WITTS!!!)

Yea now if Washington could just have a front line that'd stop em like a freight train.
Although it is one of the best paint schemes I've ever seen on any engine.
Coarse it ought to have 2 bumper stickers on the back one saying "Don't laugh it's paid for" and the other saying "Don't laugh I could be dating your daughter"
Go skins

looks like I will be getting some of these GP30's, I like the Non-Dynamic version and these will be great for Soo Line, Milwaukee Road, Wisconsin Central, and CNW
also any release date
be what Lionel wouldn't/couldn't do. Ex-GM&O GP30. Hope that "street price"
is about right. I will be buying the NYC unit, at least. Now a Southern high-hood unit
such as is preserved/run in Chattanooga? As Mr. Sulu says: "Oh, my!".
WBB - on the road to being the New (solvent) K-line?
I miss K-line.
Very nice! It reminds me of the detail on the BL2's. I have no interest in a GP30 as they were not used by roads I collect, but it's still great to see a new offering. I always felt the GP30 was the ugly duckling of the Geeps. I'd like to see WBB upgrade their older products with the wire handrails. Maybe offer classic and scale detailed version diesels.
I'm in for their B&M F3 when it comes out. I wonder if it may have the new sound system? WBB are my locos of choice, great runners and priced right. Keep up the good work WBB!
Nice looking ACL unit. The handrails are a great improvement over the older design.
This may be my 1st non-Seaboard motive power purchase!
Hmmm... those look like a locomotive I might be interested in. That NYC one looks sweet.
How about GP30B units for UP. UP did run GP30, GP30B and GP30B units for passenger service: B units had steam generators. Not used very often as such, but....
Very nice! I really like the wire handrails and the frame detail. It also appears that the hoods are the correct width, unlike the SD-45. I think they have a real winner here. This is their best freight diesel yet IMO. I had convinced myself that I only needed one or two more locos and then they come out with this. I am not a big fan of the GP30, but that U.P. is a very nice looking loco and I can see a few of them in my fleet. If this trend of releasing new scale models continues at Bachmann, I think I may end up with a lot more locos than I currently own.
They were the highlight of the show for me. VERY nice units for the money. They finally got rid of those clunky stamped metal railings. These ones are of formed wire. They also have wire grabs. I was told they may put in cab figures in the future. Just a single number and no dummy units at this point. More roadnames to follow. Release date is around November. They guessed the street price would be around $200.
very nice. Probably their best effort yet.
the latest WBB BL-2 also has formed wire handrails . Its also a nice model.
If they make a Soo version with AAR trucks, I'm in trouble...
How about:
UP 844?
UP version just from the EMD plant
Nice to see a new scale detailed player in the game, on my new layout I am thinking on putting in a non Command control/DCS line to run the conventional trains. If they can be had on the street for under two hundred I may try one out.
Very nice models, to be sure. I had the pleasure of examining them up close and personal at the Bachmann booth. I have already lobbied with Jack Lynch and Larry Harrington to see the Alaska RR livery appear at some point.
If they make a Soo version with AAR trucks, I'm in trouble...
Me too. I'd be in for several!

just watched the TCA netvision video for bachmann, sound system is being made by sountraxx in denver Colorodo. I sent an email suggesting that they add think about adding a data input for TMCC upgrade boards. If you think this is a good idea I suggest you email bachmann and soundtraxx suggesting that upgrade input option
The 16 bit sound system is a huge plus for me. I will be retro-fitting all of my WBB locomotives once it is available. Great job Bachmann.

They already have the trucks from their FA1's, you're in trouble
SOO wasn't the only road that had GP30s that rode on ALCO trucks. The Milwaukee and the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio also had them. This might make it worth WBB's while to offer those as well.
BTW, didn't other roads have any of these via the secondhand market--for example, maybe Wisconsin Central?
So what is the 16 bit sound system? Engine sounds and all, or a revised Trueblast, with just whistle and bell?
Their choices of RRs leaves me bewildered.
ACL only had 9 of these were as SAL had 34. Hopefully they'll see good sales and offer these in other roadnames.

From watching the Grandstand video, Bachmann is labeling it 'Trueblast plus', the sound system is from Soundtraxx which has the top sounds in HO scale.

From what I gather from the TCA open house presentaition on YouTube it is engine sounds true to the prototype and a seperate bell and horn! You will also be able to plug and play a new 16 bit sound board to replace the Tru-Blast 2 board!! No cab chatter but that is OK with me. Just the diesel rev and a decent sounding bell and horn is a major step foward IMO. Well done WBB and thank you!

I totally agree! just like the original Williams True Blast!
Wow, that is very good news, and we can retrofit older locos! Yes Bachmann, thank you!! I'm not bothered with cab chatter either. So when are they going to make a DCC decoder option?
Wow, that is very good news, and we can retrofit older locos! Yes Bachmann, thank you!! I'm not bothered with cab chatter either. So when are they going to make a DCC decoder option?
When they make a DCC capable engine. One with insulated axles, one that runs solely on DC. I think Bachmann has done their homework very well. Just being in bed with Soundtraxx is a major coup. They're one of the most popular makers of DCC command and sound decoders out there. These guys don't sit on their laurels either . If they see a demand for their product(and I'm sure they will) they'll do anything they can to improve it. I think you'll soon see sound boards with selective horns something like the little MRC sounder so you can have an EMD prime mover and a Dash-8 horn.
I also think you'll see not a data interface to the TMCC boards because of patent issues with Lionel but a direct connection to the motor wires to supply motor feedback to the boards for revs . This is the way the Tsunami boards work now. So you could have a stand alone board that give you motor sounds up and down even with the track at 18 volts.
I hope the "Big two" see the writing on the wall. For anyone thats interested Soundtraxx has their own web site and it may just be worth a visit.
