Wow!  Another must have Woodlands Scenics building.  Between Woodland Scenics and Menards, I am totally running out of space on the layout.  But that will not stop me from ordering this structure!

Remembering 40 years ago when I got back into the hobby and there were almost NO buildings to be had, these are certainly the glory days to be involved in O gauge or O scale!

Thanks for the heads up,

Don

Would make a great looking theme park station!!!!

Looks very Disney-ish!  Not a bad thing....but yes....not for a gritty mid 1950's era layout. (unless it's the Disneyland and Santa Fe)

Yeah, I see what you mean after going back and looking again. But if you yanked the light pole, semaphore and bulletin board, it'd look a lot more like a 'real' depot, much in the way that I removed more from Ethyl's gas station than I kept as I needed to remove a lot of postwar stuff from it.

My first gut reaction upon seeing the thumbnail is that it looked like a Halloween Lemax or Dept 56 building.  I do wonder if it's a bit too old for the time period of most people's layouts.

That said, I can also see this as being a great ice cream or concession stand, perhaps next to a lake.  Set up some tables under the covered outdoor area and it would really look great.  The fact that it's raised up makes it perfect for any use next to a lake or ocean.  Boat rentals, bait shop, etc.

This seems early for them to announce a release.  In the past I feel like it has been closer to the fall.  Looking forward to seeing more pictures of this to see if I am interested.

Tow dog,

Yes, this does look like a turn of the last century building.  I like modeling late steam era, and can envision it as a backwoods station that was never upgraded.  I think I could 'modernize' it by 50 years by replacing the gooseneck lamp, removing the semaphore, and the fancy bracing on the dock.

Your idea of some other business 'reusing' the station for more modern times is a good idea.  Also used at an amusement park would work.

Perfect for my era and layout size.  Most of the stuff on the market is too new or too big for me.  WS knows what they're doing here:  not everybody has a big layout in the transition era, and the rest of us need structures, etc., too, ya know?

I'll tell ya who else will look hard at these:  the On30 folks.

Welllll.....  When I saw this announcement, I sez m'self...'Self!  They finally announced the third item for 2014!!'  After all, by my count and our store shelves, I have a total of 11 different O built-ups for the 4 year run.  That's three each of the first 3 years, but only two last year.

??????????

Soooo......  What I'm yet hoping for is a full set of three...1-2-3...for 2015...announced in their typical time frame of late summer to early fall of this year.

Hey!  I said "hope for".  Y'know....dream big!??

Re the comments it's 'another station' or 'too small'....   How many stations does a train typically pass?  Aren't most O3R basement layouts on the 'small' size...compared to, say, HO...or N??...for which a smaller station would be appropriate? (I mean, for all the ballyhoo we've gone through for the release of Grand Central Stations....in the megabuck range, too....how did that cater to the needs of the majority of O3R/O2R home operators??)  And, looking at the plethora of details/architectural features of this new station-on-the-block....I gladly could find a front-and-center location for viewing of this cutie-pie on my layout!!  And I can't wait to see how they've applied their LED lighting to show it off n the 'nightime'!!!

We have a winner!!!!  Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!!!!!

Meanwhile, back a the ranch....

KD

P.S....Looking at this station I'm even MORE pumped for Lionel Corporation Tinplate to make a reproduction of....(drum roll, please!)...THE TOONERVILLE TROLLEY!!!
