Nickel Plate 765 is going to be in Steamtown in Scranton this September for a series of excursions as most of us know, on day it is to be on static display. So I have to ask, will sister Berkshire 759 be brought out alongside 765? That would make for some good photos, would it not. Maybe we'll get lucky.

NKP 765 spotted next to NKP 759?
It's a distinct possibility.
Bump. So it is my understanding the 765 and 759 are right next to each other in the Steamtown roundhouse. So they have reunited! Now lets hope that when 765 is on static display the folks at Steamtown are generous enough to bring 759 out side along side 765.
I prefer some space between them for visitors and photographers. As I recall, NKP 759 had some cosmetic work done and she looks better now.

For RailFest, which is September 5-7 this year, the two locomotives will be outside of the Roundhouse. They will be displayed together on Sunday, the 6th, between Steamtown's visitor center and technology museum. 765 has two excursions to run on Saturday and Monday.
The last of the NKP 700's were retired in 1958. A number of them were stored serviceable in the roundhouses in New Haven, IN, Bellevue, OH and Conneaut, Ohio, until 1960 when they were stricken from the roster and they were pushed outdoors until disposition.
That means that it has been fifty-five years since two NKP 700's have been in the same roundhouse at the same time!
Fortunately #757 in that photo did survive - and we are lucky that several examples of this fine locomotive have survived - 755, 757, 759, 763, 779. I think there's another NKP example that survived but I can't recall the number offhand...
When you consider the Pere Marquette 1225, and the 10 or so C&O Kanawha's that survive in various locations, the Van Sweringen 2-8-4s are one of the most numerous class of steam locomotives to survive.
Corrections welcomed.
now that's a great shot.

Sam...you might want to edit that last post.....
we went and saw 755 a few years ago, a little ruff, but still looks great.
759 was your ride in the east back in the day. She figured in some mighty fine experiences!
There were a lot of great photo opportunities throughout the week and into the weekend.
Here are a pair of my photos on Flickr:
Here are few videos of NKP 765 at Railfest 2015 in Steamtown.
Hey guys!
I figured some of you might like this. A drone photographer from the Scranton Area (Which is where I am from) took some video of NKP 765 this past weekend. I figures some of you might enjoy this.
Chris
Rich I was hoping to see you there.

Great pictures and videos. I like Rich's pictures but also like that picture Dan986 took. That picture looks like the late 80's or early 90's in 2015. But happened to see this picture, and saw the horn on top of that NS SD70ACe or SD70M-2. The one horn bell is turned a little.

I took a pic from the same spot. The horns were on a black Norfolk engine With the black paint and white logo with horse on side. I am not too good with diesels my pic shows only a little more than his.
Little update 765 is to move from Scranton to Binghamton NY from there to Buffalo today. Thought maybe some might be able to see in action! Will be watching from Fulton street crossing in Waverly NY. Truly amazing piece of machinery! All designed and built without aid of computers.
So, you say you want side-by-side shots. Here we go... In the Roundhouse on Friday, September 4. One or two of the fire tubes in the 765 boiler and a superheater were cracked, so she was under repair for most of the week she was in Scranton.765's new fire was just being raised up when I took this shot.
Saturday morning after getting coal, 765 rolls past 759 on her way to the turntable.
Sunday morning before most of the visitors arrived. 7:00 AM light.
The RailFest committee poses between the Berks.
Sunday afternoon. The crowds still can't get enough.
Monday morning, September 7. 765 is still steaming in preparation for an excursion to East Stroudsburg, PA
And Tuesday morning, September 8. 759 stands guard, and 765 is steaming up to get her train ready to head northbound and on to Ohio.
