Did one make one and the other the other style?
To my knowledge Williams only made 60’ and 72’ cars. In MTH speak, those are Railking and Premier. Williams only used silhouette strips to depict passengers. MTH has made both Madison style and Streamlined cars. They don’t use silhouettes. The RK cars have no passengers. I think some of the Premier line cars do. Either way, there is seating detail in the MTH cars. I have several Williams engines but for passenger cars, I prefer MTH.
William's actually made a handful of O27 streamlines. Almost impossible to find. Still kicking myself for not buying them at my LHS about 10 years ago.
I think the MTH cars are my preferred over the William's. I have the William's streamlined 72' cars with silhouettes and the MTH cars with interiors. Stockyard Express has custom added cars by MTH which are very nice. I use William's Alco PAs in NKP to pull the cars.
Personal preference, but I prefer MTH to Williams pass cars because I don't love the window silhouettes. I have the original run of Rail King Madisons, and added passengers to them. This past summer I painted a couple 0-27 RK streamlined cars to be more prototypical of a Nickel Plate passenger train for my PA's, Berkshires, and Hudson to pull.
