No Andriod apps from Lionel for Legacy; now what?

We also reported that eTrain has a companion Android app that works in conjunction with the eTrain console. ETrain is a LCS partner. There are options just not directly from Lionel. I would contact eTrain and discuss with Harvey. The contact information is on the flyer. 

An iPhone without service will work fine. You will just need an iTunes account to download the Lionel app.

Thank you for the great info.  I know you discussed eTrain but I was still fuming after Mike's comment and missed it.  I did not pick up a paper flyer but I will download it when it is posted.

High Rail for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is another LCS partner app. If you're looking for a "phone" form-factor without the need for a "phone", then an iPod touch is a decent solution. You may also want to consider the iPad mini (if you're looking for a smaller form factor). Let me know if you have any questions about High Rail.

Absolutely!  High Rail is another great iDevice option. And a LCS partner to boot. All of the flyers will be available in the summary.

I think if you are just running trains a phone is okay, but if you are doing layout control such as switchs, accessories, and track power the smallest device that I would use would be an iPad mini.

An iPod Touch sounds like what you need for a handheld remote.  It's basically an iPhone without the phone component. It'll look the same on the outside and will still have wifi and run all the same apps the same iteration of the iPhone would run.  It will be cheaper and obviously won't require a Verizon/ATT/Sprint data plan.

I'm using my iPhone for the CAB2 replacement app.  But I'm using my iPad for the LCS track control app.  It makes a better console, but the iPhone/iPod Touch makes a better walk around remote.

Thanks for the inputs.  All good options.  MOPAC, since I already have all the components and I like your  way of running - I'm going to try it with a Touch.
