Non magnetic coupler thumb tacks

I have encountered a few of my MTH freight cars that have couplers with the thumb tack that won't respond to the magnets in my Atlas track. I have tried other cars on the same magnets, and they work fine. Sanding the bottom of the thumb tack has no effect. I have been replacing the thumb tacks, and that does work. Just wondering if I have been the only one to find this. (The most recent freight car is 30-7693, car carrier with Olds Cutlass) Thanks.
