I know this has been brought up before, but what's going on with North Lima Trainworks? Before the discussion was about them reconstructing their web site. It appears that the website is fine, now. I was referred to them by Lionel, and it seems indeed that they have what I need. I try to call them and get a recording about the busy holiday season and that they can't accept calls at this time. Maybe this was the recent Valentines Day rush and everybody was buying train items for their sweetie ,
LOL !  Come on now, it's mid Feb. ,and the Christmas season is long over.I've sent several emails , and get no response. I am highly reluctant to send money, or have my credit card charged ,if I can't reach them. Has any body else had any recent experiences,contact, or success in ordering from them recently? I'd like to know what's going on. If Lionel is referring people to them, then you would think that they are still in
business .I just want to get some parts.
Thanks;
Mike

I've been talking with a couple people that know John and the business a bit more personally. Apparently there was an incident a while back where the website was hacked and that is still being sorted out. There is also a major project underway to get all the parts photos back on the site and just a huge inventory of parts to sort through in general. I can understand the wait, although I too wish they were back to being caught up sooner rather than later.

Quite recently, like 2 weeks ago, I had no problem at all getting a number of parts I needed that were unavailable at Lionel but on the NLT website. If you can track down a part number on the Lionel website you can navigate NLT's website without difficulty.

Admittedly I knew what I was after and did not have to ask them for any guidance But everything went smoothly about shipping, packaging etc.

I ordered a replacement locomotive shell from them recently.  A minor detail part was broken on the new shell (and all the replacements they had in stock), so I returned it and was told I would get a refund.  Multiple emails, phone calls, and no response over several weeks.  Only when I initiated a dispute via Paypal was my money refunded.

I would not do business with them again based on this experience.  The breakage can happen but the lack of responsiveness was unnerving.  Moreover, I am tempted to contact Lionel and register a complaint.  Obviously, Lionel is a separate business but to the extent they are referring their customers to this place they should be aware that the firm is not responsive and is problematic at best.

Good luck, I tried to contact them at the end of last March (2013). Same phone message then about too busy to answer the phone due to holiday rush. That was the 2012 Christmas holiday. Phoned a few times and emailed a few times, no response to anything I tried. At the time they were supposed to be the only one that had the part I am trying to get. Maybe I'll try again after seeing this post and at least someone here got something from them.

Yes . This my fear as well.Either the item will be damaged or I will receive nothing at all. If they can't correspond before money is sent , then sending money and expecting the merchandise , is a real gamble. The shell that I'm trying to get is for a JC Penny's release. In fact  , I recently bought the whole engine from Grysboski's,only to have one of the detail parts missing. I'm going to keep the engine, because they are hard to find, and can fabricate the part.Just out of curiosity, what body shell did you get, RAL?

That's great jj1138. I guess my only questions are ,did you have any interaction with them through emails or phone calls and did they communicate with you , or did you just place an order through their website? I could place an order through their website as well , but am reluctant to send money or charge card info, when no one responds to my emails or phone calls. I'm afraid that I will be kissing my money goodbye! I also want to know the quantity available for the body shell that I want. I played with the shopping cart to see if it worked and put a quantity of 50 in, which came to over $5,000.00 LOL! That's not to say that I want that many or even that they even have that quantity in stock.

Funny on some of these excuses, the website hack was probably 2 years ago.

It does sound like they ship parts when you web order.  They don't provide technical support.  So you need to use the Lionel website to id and see the part (when Lionel pictures are available) and have faith.

MTH will respond better to phone calls and e-mails to specific folks.

I guess if we all told them they can increase the cost of the trains and we will all buy more, they would hire some more employee's, and Lionel would not have had to sell their older parts to third party.     G

No, I didn't even attempt to contact them.  It was about $70 worth of parts to fix a badly damaged Lionel Phantom engine that was given to me.  I ordered a couple parts off of Lionel's website but it indicated NL Trainworks had the other parts I needed.  I just went to their website, entered the Lionel part numbers and found all of them were in stock. I added them to my cart and placed the order. Everything seemed to work fine. I'll admit the website is a little outdated in design but it worked.

I've ordered so many electronic parts & equipment out of the Far East & Europe (mainly via EBay & Amazon) that I guess I'm used to buying from dealers I have not had any contact with.
