O Gauge Railroading at Lionel Open House, August 18, 2012

O Gauge Railroading is pleased to announce that we will be part of the Lionel Open House activities held at the Lionel Service Center in Canfield, OH on Saturday, August 18th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our thanks to Mike Reagan of Lionel for inviting us to participate.

Free Gift

The first 100 folks to come by our table will receive a copy of “It Comes From Within..The Frank Pettit Story” This is a fascinating look at some of the most important technical innovations that came out of Lionel after the war, as well as an intriguing peek at the internal politics that drove Lionel insiders during the Post War period. Frank Pettit had a lively eye for personal interactions, as well as an inventive mind when it came to creating trains. And if you are one of the first 100 to meet with us, “It Comes from Within” is yours FREE

Great Offer for New Subscribers

Haven't subscribed to O Gauge Railroading yet? We have a great offer for new subscribers who attend the Open House, but it is only good if you are there in person on August 18th , so come and see us for the details.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Not sure whether to wear my OGR or Lionel shirt for this event.

For those of you who can not attend I will be taking photos throughout the day at the open house. I will post the photos on my web site and provide a link to them on this forum. I work for Lionel-Ohio part-time (parts department) and asked Mike not to assign me a job at the open house so that I can take photos.

Marty,

Thank you for putting up your photo with Owen.

Hopefully, we will see your mug for many years to come.

PS

Forgot about that wonderful prize you won last year.  Let's see if I can find a bigger piece of j..er..wonderful goodie for this year's Open House.  It is going to be tough to top last year's prize, but I have been cleaning out my garage, so there is hope.

It is great that OGR is partnering with Lionel for this event, and that it will be consolidated into one location this year.  Last year, OGR graciously opened the infamous OGR World Headquarters for an afternoon open house to coincide with the Lionel event.  Marty even won the grand prize:

So, Marty, did you find a place of honor for your prize?

Folks,

I am already being bugged "urged' to bring more FREE copies of, "It comes from Within" to the Open house. that's what I like about us 3-railers, we love anything if the price is right.

If you become a new subscriber to OGR at the Open house, we have a great deal for you that we can only do since we are so close to our "International World Headquarters" in neighboring Poland, Ohio.  Come visit our table for a great OGR deal!

Also, please remember that my left side is the best side for images

Ed,

I planned on taking all of them in hi-res. Either Allan or I can do a short article about the open house.

A team from the the Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) will be there in the tent  close to OGR and Mike Reagan.  We will be there supporting Lionel and OGR.  We are looking forward to seeing our fellow LCCA members there and meeting new people.  Spread the word.  This event will be a lot of fun!

Come on, Ed.  You know people behave differently in public than "at home".

Check out this LCCA video from last year's event.
LCCA at Lionel's Customer Service Center Open House Special Event (August 2011)

In August of 2011, Lionel hosted an open house event at their customer service center in Canfield, Ohio. Lionel's customer Service Manager Mike Reagan along with Tom Nuzzo opened their operation up to the general public and to fellow Lionel Collectors Club of America's members.

Visit this link below to view a video taken during the 2011 Event. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JoAiiPX90Xo

LCCA members and guests had a behind the scenes view of Lionel Customer service and repair operations. Lionel has hundreds of thousands of service parts including shells from their more recent products. Members had an opportunity to view Lionel's operating test track where all of the engine repairs are fully tested before being sent back to their customers.

Ed Boyle and Allan Miller of OGR Magazine were also there- alongside Al Kolis and Lou Caponi from the LCCA. A great time was had by all of those who attended this Lionel/LCCA Special Event.

Thank you to Mike Reagan, Tom Nuzzo and Lionel for hosting this special open house event. Most of all, thank you to our fellow LCCA members for participating in this Special Event.
