I've got my cart filled, and I'm ready to order tomorrow!

So most of the things Id want are in "preview", which means I need to join the private club membershipe at $10 a month or $110 for the year...which at the end of the day kind of defetes the point of the promotion.

@Bossman284, you can join for a month and then cancel. There was definitely a time this spring where I signed up (and then cancelled) to get early access at a Lionel SP autorack as they’re pretty hard to find and I needed one for my Southwest layout. So, if you want 3 items with a price over $20 you could still save over the list by using the private car and the promotion.

Here’s my haul from this sale. It was even over $500, so I was able to double dip and get free shipping as well.

Yeah, as you can see in the photo, that's what it is giving me.

I tried mine and it did not do that just gave half off on the cheapest item in the cart. Must be a catch?

Did not work for me added the third item for discount as op said and discounted cheapest item in cart.

cheapest=least expensive, no? Seems to be working properly.

For these types of sales, I have the tendency to look at the cost of the total order, not just the one car.  For this promotion, if you want to get the biggest discount for the entire buy, all three cars would need to be near the same price.  Lets say each car was $100 for $300 total, 50% off one car would be $50.  That is 16.7% off the full purchace price for the required minimum of 3 items.   Not bad now-a-days. 

In Bigboy25's case, he got 4.1% off the full cost of his order and combined shipping.

It's pretty standard that a buy x get y at reduced price sale will apply the discount to the least expensive item (at least that's always how it works when I'm buying something, haha), but we can try and make it clearer in the future so there aren't any surprises at checkout. Please have your website maintainers see if they can fix it so that when another page number is selected the screen displays the top of the chosen page.  I rarely look at more than a couple pages when using my iPad because of the excess scrolling required.

What exactly do you want to see at the top of every page? The search bar?

We did recently add the page size control at the top of the listings where you can specify from 25 to 200 product per page to reduce paging.

Scott@Trainz - So presumably Canadians are still excluded from buying anything from Trainz - discount or otherwise - because you don’t/won’t ship to Canada?

Well it isn't because we don't want to, it is because of our shipping and ecommerce software. However, the good news is that has been our #1 IT project for the past couple of months and the goal is to enable that by 8/15 if all goes as planned. Seems real easy, but it isn't. We want it to be a smooth automated checkout flow.

Contrary to the post below your reply above, I am NOT asking for any redesign.  I would just like the top of the page to be what is displayed when the “next” page is requested.  Clicking on “2” brings up a new page but the middle of the page is what is showing.

This screenshot is what displays when page 2 is chosen “from this list.”

Yes I too find that annoying. You go to page two and it brings me to the bottom or the middle. It should bring you to the top of the next page.

Scott, I've bought from you a few times(ebay before knowing the site, and your site) and have had no problems searching for what I was looking for. Great site, great buys. Thank you.

Oh boy. I’m glad I already have all of the freight cars I’ll ever need.

Yes I seen that too. I was going to buy 3 boxcars from low to high value cars and seen I had to pay $10 fee monthly or by the year ($109) at a reduced price to get advanced notice on these and a privilege to buy them. Of course the Preview fee plan is if you buy or not. So money coming in every month to them.  So to buy these the sale expired on Aug 10th at midnight. On August 11th I could buy them without the monthly fee of $10 but the sale was over.  So to get the one I wanted I deleted 2 boxcars and paid the full price for the one I wanted and signed up for a month which I will cancel before the next month fee is charged. So TrainZ lost an additional sale of $100 from me. I have bought from TrainZ over the years and never had trouble and had some good buys but lately I had a bad experience with them and it was not made right and cost me money and even writing  Scott and got no reply from him. So after this so called sale I will cut my buying from them. I will spend it somewhere else. It is all about money anymore and Lionel is the same way. My feelings about it and yours may be different. The world today.

We deployed a fix to the scrolling issue on the iPad. It worked fine with Chrome, but Safari and Firefox both behaved as you described. All three work correctly now. Thanks for letting us know.
