I watched the product videos and it said the odessy setting would generate whistles and talk as it ran. I set my two legacy engines to odessy and the horn went off, etc at movement but after the initial speech and horn and bell went off I never heard another sound until I changed sppeds a horn would go off or it stopped it would talk again. How long before horns blow etc while running down the track?

You don't say if you are running Legacy or conventional.
I run conventional only. I have noticed that some of my Od-2 locos do this: if I just set the speed at, say, a constant 30 mph or so and let it run it occasionally "talks to itself" it will speak up with some announcement or something or make a horn activation. Changing the throttle seems to provoke mine to make those noises, too . . but when just left along, they also do it very occasionally anyway, which I actually find annoying - I'd just like the to run and chuff or rumble or whatever engine sound they should make, nothing more.
I think this is a function of Sequence Control - not oddessey. Do your loco's have Sequence Control?
I misunderstand the terms sometimes, I use sequence control and even after running it a long while the horns and crew talk were not heard on their own.
It may vary from locomotive to locomotive, but in my experience, the various sound effects tend to occur more frequently at higher speeds. At lower speeds, not a lot seems to happen unless there is a change in speed. But at higher speeds (Steps 4 and 5) the grade crossing horn sequence etc. becomes more frequent. I use sequence control a lot, as coupled with the momentum and train brake controls, it's very useful for controlling multiple trains with ease. A single button press can set a train running and accelerate it to a pre-set speed, leaving one free to concentrate on performing a switching movement or some other activity on a different train.
