Odyssey Fix-it Magnets

I picked up a couple of replacement "Fix-it" magnets but they do not stop the Odyssey engine from run away. I would expect to be able to feel some magnetic attraction to a steel object but get nothing. The broken magnet on the flywheel does exhibit some attraction to a screw driver. Is this to be expected or are these Fix-it magnets defective?
