Has anybody tried the older TIUs with an adapter to the new WIFI unit?
I thought I'd ask before trying it.

Joe,
Older TIUs work just fine with the WIU.
thanks again!
I can confirm. I have a pre REV L TIU and WIU works just fine thru serial.

Same for me.
I can definitely confirm it works great.
Looks like I never upgraded this one to 5.0! Ooops.
Dumb question, which USB <-> Serial adapter do you use for this application?
I can't help John. The cable I bought wouldn't connect to the TIU from the older basement computer #2.
I can't blame the cable as I'm not sure why it didn't see it on a com port. It may have been this old computer failing? or me not knowing how to solve the port issue? That computer has several problems.
I used an even older computer #3 with old serial port connection and that worked for the DCS upgrade.
I got the cable adapter from All electronics #CB-394.
It lights up!
Well, I'm not going to buy the non-working model you got Joe, I'm looking for one that works!
I happen to have all Rev. L TIU's, but I know the question is going to come up soon at the club, and I figured I'd have an answer.
I know John. I did preface it with "I CAN'T HELP!"
I need to test it on my newest computer or with the WIU and REV I for an answer.
John, I bought a pair from the Dell website at a reasonable price. They work. I also had a Gigaware cable I bought at Radio Shack some years ago.
John, I've obtained excellent results using an Insignia USB to RS-232 Serial adapter NS-PU99501 purchased for $20 and available from Best Buy.com and also carried in their stores. This is the cable Barry Broskowitz uses and has reported flawless results using it.
MTH actually recommends the Sabrent CB-DB9P. I bought it from Amazon when I couldn't get my old one to work with Windows 10. It works great with the WIU.

I have 2 of these and they work flawlessly. One is connected to my layout (REV I TIU) and the other I use when I upgrade TIUs and remotes. I use Windows 7 for the loader software.

I am having the same issues trying to upgrade. Instead of using my Windows 10 laptop, I used a Windows 7 desktop and did the upgrade.

Scott,
I'd guess it's a driver issue.
I guess I'll just try one of the adapters I have and see if it works. I wasn't sure if there was a single brand that was required.
