Progress has come slowly on my layout, but the end result is very gratifying.  Here are some pictures of the first scene you see when you climb the stairs to my train room.  Paul from On Track Trestle built this custom trestle for me.  It accommodates 3 pieces of Ross sectional O88.  I installed O96 and O112 as bookends for easement.  Paul does amazing work and he was great to work with.

The mountain and ravine are made of polystyrene insulation and plaster.  I utilized a variation of the technique Jim Policastro shared in his OGR articles.

Thanks for all the kind words.  I will certainly post more pics as the other scenes come together.  Hi Dennis B!  Yes, I spent a lot of time trying to find a way to treat that corner.  The low height of the knee wall and the pitch of the roof were limiting factors in the design process.  Plus, that corner is the first thing visitors see when they come up the steps to my train room, so I treated it as a focal point. I just posted this thread on the stairwell/entry.  BTW, your roundhouse is a focal point too.  For me there were key elements that I had to have on my layout that anchor a scene.  The other anchors are the passenger station, the lift bridge, and the coal mine.

thanks again for the compliments
