Another Critter Fritter coming from Bachmann, an On30 2-4-4-2.
$525 MSRP, no sound. $119 for the sound decoder.
Even at a discount, these things are getting a little pricey.

Pricey, and has to be regauged to On3, a pain.....I'd pay that for a 3 rail conventional
one that looks like that in one minute flat, for sure, if anybody had sense enough
to make it. (Don't hold your breath)
Another poo-dinky loco from Bachmann.
The Little River 2-4-4-2 cries to be produced-GEM did it in HO years ago.
A mite hefty for On30 but an enterprising manufacturer could modify it enough to be credible.
Glad to see somebody else wants the Little River loco. Third Rail is now doing its
second west coast 6 drivered artic, and, this time, one that is widely known, but, still
not the Little River.
The Little River 2-4-4-2 has been done twice in HO and, I think, twice in O scale 2
rail, but us three railers are still the orphan waifs freezing on the street corner in the snow.
I only turned up about three eight-drivered articulateds in the 1941 Loco. Cyclopedia,
not including anything looking like this Bachmann creation....any idea what prototype
Bachmann found for this?
I owned a 2-6-6-2 in On30 and if I am not mistaken, it was made for export to work the sugar plantation.
I recall the 2-4-4-2 in HO and also in O. I am not sure if I will get one in O scale. 0n30 is somewhat like a child in between sizes. And I think there is a Saddletank in G which like $1600-
I would be right there behind Oliver and his bowl asking for more.
We expect to have a product review in a future issue of OGR. One of these locomotives is being sent to George Brown, our product reviewer.
Well, the 2-4-4-2 at Micro-Mark's listed at $324.95, the sound module is $73.95.
The 14 ton Heisler is listed at $259.95, module also 73.95.

I've got the 2-6-6-2 w/sound...got her off of evilbay{taker of my money} for only $150. That sound is great too. I love how one has options for the tender load as well as stack choice and light style...bach did they're customers right.
There's a guy there who's real store has some nice deals...would it be out of place to say who that is here....don't want to ruffle any feathers.

-George, email sent.
-Everyone else, just do a search on ebay under On30 in the model trains section...there's a place in texas that'll stand out, but I've found good deals from others there too.
A suggestion though, when you find what you think is a good deal on ebay, try a search of the web for your intended purchase, you might be surprised that you could find a better price still elsewhere......this is obviously for those who've not really used ebay ever for hunting...the rest of us know the routine.
I suppose I should toss this up for everyone's reference concerning the bachmann 2-4-4-2. She's set up as "DCC ready", while the 2-6-6-2 is either DCC or DCC/sound. I'm guessing that bachmann is starting to make more engines in this way because some folks want simple DCC control while others want that and sound. I recently purchased 2 bachmann DCC HO diesels for some On30 kitbashing since our On30 roster here is steam and railbus only - no diesels. I've come to realize that the bachmann's DCC board isn't set up for adding just sound after that fact, one really needs to install a whole new board for "both". The 2-4-4-2 is set up that one can choose which way he/she wants to go- DC anolog {good to go right out of the box}, DCC or DCC/sound...your choice. I like that better than having to yank my oem bachmann DCC board and swapping it totally out...although with getting the GP40 DCC at $35 and getting the Tsunami DCC/sound board at $81{both on ebay} I'll have better sound and CV control than the bachmann DCC value sound units out there at roughly $100plus....worth it imho...maybe not yours.
