Seems Jack's FAs A-B-A proto-2 ( not sure what board is inside 3V ?) only want to run in reverse. The trailing A 's wheels will only turn in one direction. Tried a feature reset yesterday. that's all , except checked out the traction tire . All on and in place. Thoughts?

That's an indication of a defective slave board.

Ouch! OK thanks. Working on faulty circuit boards is beyond my capabilities.
Gregg,
If the trailing A unit runs alone, it's a problem with the slave board. The slave board is the same for 3v or 5v. GGG most likely can fix it.
Does the non slave A unit function in all directions?? That is the one with the PS2 board. If the front A operates properly, pull the cab off the slave and turn the flywheels in both direction by hand. If they turn, pull the plugs out of the slave board and reinstall them and see what you have. What will the engine do in conventional?
I would want to be sure the battery is good and do a factory reset.
One last thing if the front A is operating properly. Hook A to A without B and see what you have.
Check out what Joe stated.

Thanks Marty & Joe... Hopefully I can get back to the layout this week sometime. Good suggestions.
If the slave runs on its own with track power applied and not connected to the Lead it also indicates a bad slave board. These tend to be a common problem and it is repairable. G
Bit of an Update... I haven't been back to the layout but we have another problem (maybe) There's a lash-up that's misbehaving, The trailing engine is out of sink with the lead unit. Question.. Can a lash-up be reset using a feature reset? I know I can delete it and create one again. Maybe it just missed the watch dog or low dcs signal? Apparently there was a hydro outage and when the power came on ,things have gone a stray. Later.
Gregg,
If I recall correctly, one can Feature Reset a lashup. Give it a try and let us know.

Sure . Next week though. Thanks

No it can not for this issue. DCS not involved with a PS-2 Slave set up. The Slave is hardwired to the motor leads of the Lead A PS-2 board. So if the Lead engine moving forward, those same motor polarities and pulses go directly to the slave and tell it to match.
The best way to test this would be on a roller or upside down (smoke off). If the slave rotates in the wrong direction when first going forward, change direction and roll up thumbwheel, does the slave motor reverse or continue in the same direction?
My feeling is this is a slave hardware fault, assuming it was working right and no one went into the engines and swapped motor leads. G
Thanks George , This is a different set of engines . Sorry I wasn't clearer. .
Got it, so two Lead units in MU. G
