Eddie,
Personally, I very much doubt that the version of DCS has anything to do with the problem. I only mentioned that I have a copy of DCS 4.30 (and just about every other version of DCS produced, both production and beta) in response to Gregg's post.
Your one mistake was in not immediately resetting both the TIU and the remote prior to doing anything with them. You have no idea what condition these devices were in when you acquired them used. In fact, they could even be suffering from an issue with their hardware. If so, you may just be out of luck.
If the problem is simply that, as Gregg suggests, the contrast is messed up, the only thing to try is a "blind reset", which means performing the following commands without being able to see the screen.
After ensuring that the remote is powered up with fresh batteries, do the following in the exact sequence indicated:
- Press MENU
- Scroll down 2 clicks of the thumbwheel
- Press the thumbwheel once
- Scroll down 4 clicks of the thumbwheel
- Press the thumbwheel once
- Scroll down 1 click of the thumbwheel
- Press the thumbwheel once
- Wait 3 seconds and press the thumbwheel once, again
After a few seconds, the remote should turn off. Then, press the power-on button and cross your fingers!
Good luck!
