Hi, could use some help, have been using Lionel Looney Tunes Handcars for many years without problems, recently purchased & had delivered Santa & Snowman operating Handcar, & Mr.& Mrs. Santa Claus operating Hand Cars.
To say the least, the Santa & Snowman started smoking, & the Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus didn't work at all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Find attached pictures of my Lionel Looney Tunes Handcars I have been using for many years without problems.

Which Santa and Snowman. Lionel made a least 4 versions.
If it started smoking the moment you gave it power, I would look for a pinched wire on the metal frame between the rectifier and pick-up. What was burnt, a wire, the rectifier, or the motor? Fortunately, all the parts are available to fix the handcar.
As soon as I gave it power, smoke started pouring out of the hand car, took it off the track before it caught on fire.
Purchased thru E-Bay & on the way back to the seller.
