Have been looking lately at the large modern diesels in Santa Fe Warbonnet colors and bought the Legacy AC6000. What are your experiences with these and comparable MTH units please?

I noticed that the recent Santa Fe Legacy model retails for $549 while the similar 'Heritage' units from just a few years ago were $100 less as is the MTH model.

I went for the Lionel primarily because the future of DCS on our club layout is still up in the air while TMCC/Legacy seems to work well enough as is.

Your opinions please.

I have an MTH AC6000, and have seen the lionel one on numerous occasions. IMO, the MTH one is a much better model. The screen work on the lionel one just seems so chunky, especially as compared to the fine metal screening that MTH uses. The sound of the MTH one is also pretty much spot on. One of the best PS2 sound sets I've heard... screaming turbo whine, a very good amount of bass and a decent horn.I also cant stand the glossy paint job that lionel uses on the AC6000s. To me, the detail crispness on the MTH one is just better.

The MTH dash 8 is the same way. Its probably THE best diesel sound set they've ever put out.

I have the Lionel AC6000 in the SF scheme and it's a great engine, sound, smoke and operation are all top notch. Btw the SF never had a AC6000 in red and silver. I have found that the MTH dash 8', AC600's  and ES44ac's are better detailed (ie. the GE evo hybrid). The sounds are also great plus I like the PSA sounds much better then any crew talk from Lionel diesels.
