I have  a ZW-L and want to wire in a TIU to my layout. Since DCS will not be my main command system (I only own 2 MTH engines) and I want to retain the simplicity of the ZW-L, I was thinking of wiring the TIU passively. I am wondering can I simply use jumpers from the TIU to the corresponding post on the ZW-L or do I have to run each TIU post to the track or terminal block? ( I am using Star wiring from the ZW-L to terminal blocks then out to the various track blocks)

Ideally I would like to build some small long jumper cables so that I could unplug the TIU from the ZW to store it when not in use.

Hi Chris,

For best results, try to keep the "jumpers" relatively short.  If you can keep the total length from the TIU to the ZW-L to the terminal blocks under 8 ft you should have few if any problems.  Beyond 8 ft. it will still work, but the chances of having a trouble spot somewhere on the layout starts going up.
